What would you buy yourself as a treat right now if you had the money to do so?

If you had some spending money to buy yourself a treat, what would you get?

Ordinarily I might buy myself a new pair of shoes or some makeup, but that feels rather pointless given no one is going to notice on a video call. I also don't want to buy something that has a high chance of needing to be returned, so thing like bras are definitely out because those need to be tried on in person.

I might get my hair done, but hairdressers aren't open for business.

So... what would you buy?

(I'm budgeting for the month ahead and would typically set aside a little bit of money for fun spends, but I'm struggling to think of how I would actually use that budget right now. First world problems, I know.)

Oh awkward I would definitely be willing to give direction to an approved male, but as part of his genetic package he would have a great natural instinct for how to touch my feet nicely 😉

Body scrubs. I've been indulging in those. In preparation for my release from lockdown! 😀

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 31/05/2020 07:56

A really bestial gaming PC with over the top components.

Realistically, a pair of Hebtroco jeans. Ok, I need to drop 4 stone to get down to size, but that's the incentive.

So many lovely things I want now. I’ve spent the lockdown paying off my overdraft and credit card. Which whilst good, doesn’t give me much opportunity to go “ooooooh”.

I have, of course, bought my son and husband treats. “Of course“ because I find it really hard to spend money on myself, but not them.

I’ve been hankering over a weighted blanket for a year or so... but... I imagine they’d be a bit hot at the moment? Anyone know?

pinkazing · 31/05/2020 08:48

It was my birthday last week. I got a weighted blanket and even with the heat; I’m so happy with it I’ve slept so much better. I was really suffering with restless legs. I think my next purchase is a rowing machine. I actually got my q1 bonus (not much but extra) but am a bit hesitant to spend it until I know I’m going back to work. I have multiple baskets set up at lots of shops online.

MinesaPinot · 31/05/2020 09:01

I've just bought an Alexander McQueen wrap scarf from Naughtipidgins. I was going to get a bag as well but DH has said he will take me to Bicester or Ashford outlets when all this is over so will wait until then.

Would love one of the VeryKerry kimonos though.....

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 31/05/2020 09:11

@Katetof19 get the Kindle Oasis if you have the money, you won't regret it. I love mine and read every single day.

I'm after a nice garden sunlounger but they seem to be sold out everywhere.

465768P · 31/05/2020 09:32

I'd buy a really nice summer dress seen loads of nice ones.
Some bits for my car, yes I'm a car girl. Racing air filter so it sounds sweet, new exhaust so it also sounds sweet. Proper bose speakers. Lights for the footwells.
I've already treat it to tinted windows so its nice and cool in weather like this 🙂

CherryPavlova · 31/05/2020 09:35

It’s not about the money; it’s about the freedom to do and go where we want. Things won’t usually bring happiness but a holiday, a supper party or a theatre trip would hit the mark.

MondeoFan · 31/05/2020 09:43

I always buy myself an expensive candle when I fancy a treat. Money down the drain in know.
This year I've already bought a new washing machine, new car, iPad, make up and clothes so don't "need" anything as such.
I've been saving quite a bit of money since lockdown even though I've only been getting 80% wages, so shows how much I spend normally.
I have a fair bit saved up which is giving me the incentive to just carry on saving, so I'm going to resist buying anything.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/05/2020 09:45

A really nice cross stitch kit. However I was paid on Thursday and have already bought myself a wildlife pond and a cross stitch kit so can't justify another!

Waitingforboristoletusfree · 31/05/2020 09:47

I’d buy a silke hair wrap

BahHumbygge · 31/05/2020 09:53

La Pavoni espresso machine 😍☕️

Bluetooth coffee scales

Coffee bean subscription.

Just going to buy myself some non-smart scales and a fancy stove top coffee pot in a larger size than my current one.

Herecomethehotstepper · 31/05/2020 09:54

I've recently become a gardening nut so gardening tools, lawnmower, raised beds, compost, mulch, plants and pretty garden ornaments. Who knew it was such an expensive hobby.

caffeinebuzz · 31/05/2020 09:56

Have treated myself some really nice home workout equipment. Just a new yoga mat, dumbbells, etc but was able to spend more than I usually would to get the exact ones I want as saving on gym membership at the moment!

MotherWol · 31/05/2020 10:01

On my list:

  • houseplants to brighten up my home
  • posh sunscreen (thinking Nuxe or Vichy) as I’ll get sunburnt even in the UK and I normally get supermarket stuff
  • a case of flavoured sparkling water so I don’t OD on coffee
  • more books
  • nice glasses for quarantinis
Heathcliff27 · 31/05/2020 10:10

I am in this position right now and have ordered a pop up gazebo thing for the garden, sunshine and pale skin don't mix but I love to sit in the fresh air.

Qgardens · 31/05/2020 10:18

I bought a garden sofa set I'd been eyeing up. I wouldn't normally have justified spending that much but considered it worthwhile in the circumstances, as my entire social life is going to revolve round the garden this year. It's transformed my lockdown. It's a whole new outdoor room.

Now off to Google ice making machines.

Qgardens · 31/05/2020 10:20

Maybe I won't buy the ice making machine. They are expensive!!!

CharDeeMacDennis · 31/05/2020 10:25

Like a PP, I've ordered a really luxurious summer dressing gown. Mine's from Toast. I REALLY didn't need it, but the reviews sold me.

(At least, I bloody hope it's really luxurious! For that price!)

Should be worth it, as I wfh permanently and don't go out much at the best of times.

I've also treated myself to some nice hoodies and other loungewear, for the same reason.

Nice home clothes bring me so much comfort, physical and mental, and I am all about comfort.

Cakemonger · 31/05/2020 10:47

I'm normally fairly puritanical with myself but went a bit crazy over lockdown and bought the following:

Houseplants from Hortology
Posh wine from local independent
Posh chocolate (Seed and Bean - delicious!)
Fancy tableware to make meals more special
Fancy cooking ingredients from Sous Chef

Didn't buy any clothes due to slight (hopefully temporary!) lockdown weight gain and lack of opportunity to wear them.

If money were no object I'd get a new bed and mattress, garden furniture, and a new house away from our noisy neighbours to enjoy said furniture.

For the person asking about bedding, La Redoute and Soak and Sleep do really nice reasonably priced linen bedding.

Please tell me more about the weighted blanket... What % of your weight did you go for, and would you recommend that brand? I'm tempted, but they're just so expensive and I think I'd have to be confident it was the right one!

pinkazing · 31/05/2020 13:50

@returnofthecat I got the ynm it is based on my max ideal weight but am currently a bit over that, but it’s worked for me I tried sleeping with just it the first night and I didn’t drop off too quickly so the next night I put a thin duvet between me and it and slept so well. Luckily it’s not one of the mega expensive ones. As DH was buying I wouldn’t have got it if it was.

Letseatgrandma · 31/05/2020 13:58

New bras and a pair of shoes.

I’d love a Dyson hairdryer though.

Paddingtonthebear · 31/05/2020 14:00

A hot tub
