What would you buy yourself as a treat right now if you had the money to do so?

If you had some spending money to buy yourself a treat, what would you get?

Ordinarily I might buy myself a new pair of shoes or some makeup, but that feels rather pointless given no one is going to notice on a video call. I also don't want to buy something that has a high chance of needing to be returned, so thing like bras are definitely out because those need to be tried on in person.

I might get my hair done, but hairdressers aren't open for business.

So... what would you buy?

(I'm budgeting for the month ahead and would typically set aside a little bit of money for fun spends, but I'm struggling to think of how I would actually use that budget right now. First world problems, I know.)

A new tattoo...I was planning to book it just before lockdown so that'll be my treat to myself when this is all over!

Or a new set of baking equipment. New tins, scales, silicone moulds etc. DD has found a new interest in baking and it's really got me back into it too!

@Letseatgrandma I adore it. My hair is long and thick, and I have a lot of hairs if that makes sense, and it cuts down drying time remarkably and its so easy to use. The time saved and the lack of arm-ache justifies the price to me.

@returnofthecat even if I saved up the money for it I just couldn't justify spending that much money on myself. I'd feel guilty every time I picked it up.

My original kindle was a birthday gift but not sure anyone fancies spending that much on me for my next birthday Grin

Cherrysoup · 01/06/2020 16:30

New horse. Mine is broken. 😢

Wineinthegarden · 01/06/2020 19:47

A new iPad. I think mine has struggled with being used so much and is giving up.

returnofthecat · 01/06/2020 21:45

@KaTetof19 I'm trying to be more selfish in my old age. Wink

When I was younger, I used to keep so many things unused because it seemed a waste to use them on me. No. More.

If you can afford it, and you love it, sometimes we all deserve a treat. I think women are conditioned to buy nice things for other people, but never ourselves. Be the change! Wink

I recently “gave” myself some money to spend on myself as I’ve been saving a fortune but feeling a bit flat. I rarely buy myself things I don’t absolutely need.
I bought some nice gin, some garish yoga pants, a nice print for the living room and some new vans.
I’m not a spender but it felt like a real treat.

StartingGrid · 01/06/2020 22:14

I bought a treadmill last month, and then this month a whole load of new clothes as just looking at the treadmill hasn't helped me shift any weight. Also bought recently a Mulberry purse I've been lusting after for ages. If I were to keep on spending (I won't!) I'd buy lots of sandals but I'll make do for now!

returnofthecat · 01/06/2020 23:00

@StartingGrid I love the honesty. I would definitely buy a treadmill if staring at it would make me thinner! Grin

Professional standard home pedicure kit so I can sort out cracked feet myself.

Tint for hair - see above.

Really good coffee and a small Hotel Chocolat order!

Kermitsbiggestfan · 02/06/2020 07:09

I've just ordered a new tent and some camp beds. DD and I love camping, we slept in the garden for most of half term! Looking forward to venturing further than the garden.

Deathraystare · 02/06/2020 08:35

I'm always jealous of people who can crochet, knit and sew! Zero ability here.

Same here! Both mum and aunt knitted and sewed. They actually worked for Harnells before Mum's marriage - you know the guy who has dressed the Queen etc. I wanted to avoid 'Womans' work@ so I ended up as a secretary/Receptionist ..Duh!

I am so fed up of the ghastly material in all the shops that I do wish I could sew properly (cannot see to thread a needle!). I did sew a skirt in the past.

Deathraystare · 02/06/2020 08:36

*Hartnells even.

Deathraystare · 02/06/2020 08:38

Air con for the bedroom would be fab!

Oh God. Yessssss!

Figroll16 · 02/06/2020 08:42

This! No way I could justify the cost though ☹️

I have just bought myself a load of new summer clothes. They were not expensive but all things I found that I know I will look good in.
My next treat when I can afford it will be lighting for the dollshouse I'm making.

ITonyah · 02/06/2020 08:47

Definitely jewellery. A necklace preferably.

coronafiona · 02/06/2020 08:49

Pedicure, dyson hairdryer, garden pots, new kitchen / bathroom.. list is endless! Wink

museumum · 02/06/2020 08:54

I’ve bought a pair of armchairs for the garden this month.
And ordered fancy designer vinyl for the bathroom renovation that’s happening soon as lockdown lets up a bit.

Hillocrew · 02/06/2020 08:59

I bought myself a ladies bike with a wee basket and have enjoyed using it for nipping into town to go to the butchers and veg shops etc.
I bought it with the money I've saved from commuting, lunches and socialising!

Hillocrew · 02/06/2020 09:01

Next month I plan to buy a garden sofa but need to keep searching as they all just a tad too expensive!
Oh those verry Kerry dressing gowns .... I could never justify £150 for one!!!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/06/2020 09:10

@Hillocrew I got a great garden sofa from Wayfair a few weeks back - two seater, with a footrest. About £270. There are some ridiculously expensive ones but this one does the job.

I'm trying to talk myself into a Dyson hairdryer now after all of the positive posts on them!

Franticbutterfly · 02/06/2020 09:12

There is a load of house stuff I want pooky lights, sideboard and a carpet for the stairs, new hoover, dining table and chairs for the garden.

BikeRunSki · 02/06/2020 09:43

A new bike. I have several, but n+ 1...
