Drag queen at wedding

I'm considering having a drag queen sing at my wedding. What would you think if you were at a wedding and a drag queen had been booked to perform? Obviously they'd tone it down a bit with swearing etc.

From my experience drag queens are either fantastic or mediocre, so get a good one! They’re usually very amusing, but I’d imagine quite difficult to get to tone down! They usually thrive off seeing people squirm.

I loathe drag so probably wouldn't enjoy it but it's your wedding and your choice.

I'd be worried because they can be fucking awful, but if they start their act and can sing I'd stick around. Definitely risky though.

As a guest, I would be exquisitely uncomfortable if the entertainment were doing womanface.

Presumably you like drag, right? But why do you like it?

For me, a straight couple with no personal interest in drag, hiring a drag queen, could be pretty cringey. And doubly so if this is 'drag' as in 'ho ho, women are so funny, here is a pantomine version'. Some drag is pretty misogynistic and offensive. Think about it like Cards Against Humanity. You may love it when you're with mates and you've all had a glass of wine, but if you're sitting at a polite table trying to make small talk with people you've never met, it'd be excruciating.

If you have a reason to be into drag, I think that's slightly different.

I actually don't mind a drag act if it's well done...but at a wedding? No! Time and place OP, and your wedding is neither!! Seriously...don't.

My 2 incredibly flamboyant, gay mates where the whole wedding was camp and OTT - yes.

Upper middle class traditional wedding - not so much.

If it’s one of those awful ones that just mime instead of singing , then absolutely definitely not, most of the ones I’ve seen have based their comedy on taking the piss out of the audience, normally focusing on one person and I found it excruciating embarrassing.

I think it’s too much of a risk for what should be a lovely day to have it ruined by a drag act.

The reason we thought about it is because they're so bubbly, fun, colourful and sing the cheesy songs that get everyone in the dance floor. You don't really get that with a standard singer.
