So many questions-like where’s the sex dungeon, why so many chairs in the bedroom?

Mum sold our old family home after dad died (early 2000s) and there was a booklet made by the estate agent to sell the place. It was my childhood home and it was the only house I knew growing up. It was big and mum loved decorating and they would buy things on their many travels. So 40+ years of stuff plus things from their 15 or so years of marriage before that.

If I saw it now I’d probably be 😳😳😳 but I knew what every odd piece of tat or weird ornament meant.

I knew it was this house when I saw this thread
I was on rightmove this morning and this house came up in my search
I live near here and wouldn’t want to live there even though it’s a very expensive and sought after part of st annes, it’s also very dated around there and the houses are full of sand
There is also no sea view as the sand dunes are about 30 foot
There was a man who removed the sand dune from in from of his house, he was fined 60 grand and had to pay to reinstate it

I also like the galactic blue bathroom wall ... I could imagine being in the bath and gazing up thinking of stars and planets ...
lots of memories of family having carpets like that in the 70s. Subtle wasn't really In.

Someone has commented on the big Twitter thread to say that it's her in-laws house, and they have the same surname as the people Ilivenearby thought lived there.

CatLandlady · 05/05/2020 15:59

I bet they love karaoke!

Shockers · 05/05/2020 18:07

I walked past it earlier. For context, this is what is on the other side of the dunes- it’s in a lovely spot, and the plot looks pretty big, as does the house.

I love it.

SpeedofaSloth · 05/05/2020 19:30

I would love that house.

Interesting, isn’t it, how we all have such different reactions. I grew up in a city but frequently visiting hilly and mountainous places in my formative years.

I know the spot extremely well and just find it bleak, especially in a force 9 in January 😁

Shockers · 05/05/2020 22:02

@Chillipeanuts- I don’t live there- I was shopping for a relative and went for a walk. I live further inland, more rurally. I do miss the sea though.

I’m afraid living in St. Anne’s wouldn’t cure that. The tide is usually a mile out, whatever time you go 😁
Hope you enjoyed your walk, certainly was a beautiful day.

insancerre · 06/05/2020 10:15

@Chillipeanuts
🤣
When I moved to st annes, I was made up at living near the sea
Except I think I’ve seen it about twice in the last 20 years
We do have nice sand though

Deathraystare · 06/05/2020 10:29

I’m sure that somebody would find something sneer-worthy in all of our homes!

Whenever I see one of those auction programmes, I see something my parents did to the house in the way of decoration, and shudder. Can't really blame them, if was the fashion and although my parents eventually got 'uber-beiged', they were colourful in the 70's!

Frosticle · 06/05/2020 12:21

I do like the giraffe! Quirky!

Shockers · 06/05/2020 12:39

@Chillipeanuts Grin. I grew up at Rossall Point- lots of sea there- so much in fact, it occasionally came to visit... 🌊
