Oh Christ. That’s the craziest house I think I’ve seen.

Dieu · 01/05/2020 20:37

Holy shit! The epitome of bad taste.

Chillipeanuts · 01/05/2020 20:39

kelp 23

Your picture looks more like the estuary at Lytham. The house is in St. Annes, almost opposite the old sand kite club and is just a vast stretch of sand and dunes (clue in the name of the club),no vegetation like your photo. that. Flat as a pancake, sea usually miles out and the wind stops blowing maybe 3 times a year 😁 Consequently, almost impossible to grow any decent plants so very bare gardens. Great if you like bleak.

user1490954378 · 01/05/2020 20:41

Why is there a bed in the garage?!

TwatCat · 01/05/2020 20:44

Omg I love it!!!! GrinGrinGrin

Rainbo83 · 01/05/2020 20:50

Amazing. English heritage should buy it

Svalberg · 01/05/2020 21:12

@PolloDePrimavera Ah, ok, that's ok, Cheshire is the Midlands Wink

No, what I meant was that there are an awful lot of houses in Lancs/GreaterManc that are leasehold in not quite the sense that more recent leasehold properties are, they have very long leases in the order of hundreds of years at a fixed leasehold rent, rather than being the alarming leasehold of recent years

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 01/05/2020 21:13

It looks like someone's squatted in a crematorium

getyoursocksoffhoney · 01/05/2020 21:19

@Chillipeanuts Kelps photo looks like it's been taken from on top of a sand dune in st annes, that's definitely not from the estuary in lytham. The sand dunes have grass/vegetation on them.

ListeningQuietly · 01/05/2020 21:21

I hope the last owners loved it till the day they died
it has huge potential
but will probably be fully redeveloped

getyoursocksoffhoney · 01/05/2020 21:22

This is a terrible picture I took from lytham a few days ago, I was attempting to get a nice picture of Snowdonia Grin

kenandbarbie · 01/05/2020 21:25

Yes the sand dunes have grass on them. Wasn’t it the sand yacht club rather than sand kite club?

Violinist64 · 01/05/2020 21:28

This house is glorious in its hideousness and completely flamboyant lack of taste. As a musician l love the two pianos, particularly the grand piano, though, but even though giraffes are my favourite animals l am not sure l would want a life size one in my living room.

CalmYoBadSelf · 01/05/2020 21:46

I know where that house is, pass it regularly.
For the snobs among us who keep sneering that it is in Blackpool, it isn't. The centre of Blackpool, the touristy bit, is about 5miles away, this is in St Annes On The Sea which is the northern end of Lytham St Annes, a nice quiet residential area with a tennis club, cricket club and, as someone else mentioned, the Sand Yacht Club.
It is opposite a stunning beach, around 1 mile from St Annes Pier.
Those houses do own a small amount of beach opposite their houses but it is sand dunes and cannot be enclosed so, effectively, useless.
This is the beach and you get the most stunning sunsets up there

organicapricot · 01/05/2020 21:47

Can't belive they left the toilet seat up Shock

getyoursocksoffhoney · 01/05/2020 21:50

Calm and for the snobs of us that are from Lytham, it's Lytham AND St Annes separated by Ansdell & Fairhaven, no such thing as Lytham St Annes Grin

PolloDePrimavera · 01/05/2020 22:03

@Svalberg , north Cheshire, very grim 😉. I'll shut up now as I don't know what I'm talking about tbh!

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 01/05/2020 22:09

Bloody hell. Not read the thread (sorry) but either looks like something from Twin Peaks or a location for one of Villanelle’s more flamboyant kills

Svalberg · 01/05/2020 22:11

@PolloDePrimavera Grin

ildaogden · 01/05/2020 22:11

It's a small world. I thought I recognised this house, just showed it dh and he worked there a few months ago (put a new shower in). We drove past it a few weeks ago and he pointed it out to me.
For those interested, a 93 year old lady lived there with her son. She had recently broken her hip and was on a Zimmer frame. Don't know any more but he said it was an impressive house!

Chillipeanuts · 01/05/2020 22:19

Getyoursocksoffhoney

“The sand dunes have grass/vegetation on them.”

They do, they have tall grass, a particular kind, quite rare, can’t remember the name. The flat landscape of the beach, as in that photo, doesn’t have any vegetation on it at all in the stretch opposite the house, it’s nothing but sand.

Can’t believe we’re all so bored we’re discussing vegetation 😁

On the plus side, yes, the sunsets are sometimes quite breathtaking, and you won’t find friendlier people than those in St. Annes (Lytham, maybe not so much!)

getyoursocksoffhoney · 01/05/2020 22:21

Chilli haha yes height of boredom! I think Kelps photo is just angled funny though so you can't tell it's from on top of a sand dune Smile

ListeningQuietly · 01/05/2020 22:22

ildaogden
That makes sense
its a house that has shrunk with its owners horizons
I hope that the owners do not see the nasty comments

Squiz81 · 01/05/2020 22:32

I kind of love it!

rosedrop · 01/05/2020 22:33

I can't believe they left the toilet seat up either but because the whole place is so bloody awful why bother putting it down. If I close my eyes all I can see is that carpet yuk
