Looks like where Satan might have lived in the 70's...

AmmarettoSours · 01/05/2020 23:41

looks like something thought up in the sims Grin its just weird enough that i actualy like it.

CalmYoBadSelf · 02/05/2020 01:51

@getyoursocksoffhoney - Oh yes, the Lytham vs St Annes snobbery is always good. Not to mention the controversy as to whether St Annes (or St Anne's) should have an apostrophe or not!

Sosweetmylovelygirl · 02/05/2020 02:36

Wow it’s just vile in every-way. The only thing that house is good for is to use in a horror movie. The person buying that will have to have a fantastic imagination to sort that out!! Jeeeeez it’s so offensive.

Sosweetmylovelygirl · 02/05/2020 02:45

It actually looks like the outside of a school you know like the science block for eg.

Inside I can’t get over. I do wonder why there is so many chairs in the master bedroom did the man off the house have a few wife’s or or something else? It’s somewhere I would imagine Fred and rose west to live Shock

Sosweetmylovelygirl · 02/05/2020 02:51

Who lives in a house like this?????? Grin GrinConfused

Sosweetmylovelygirl · 02/05/2020 02:51

Through the key hole!!! God I used to love that programme.

LovelyIssues · 02/05/2020 08:17

That is the most random House I have ever seen! So many seats Grin

Procrastination4 · 02/05/2020 08:57

I went through the photos, dying to see the bedroom to see exactly how many chains were there...oh the disappointment when I realised the OP asked “why so many CHAIRS”!
That’s the problem with reading too fast and seeing “sex dungeon” and consequently reading “chains” for “chairs”...Blush

myrtletheturtle45 · 02/05/2020 09:06

I would totally live there. It's huge! Change the carpets and a few bits of furniture and it would be like a new place. I would keep the giraffe though....

Whiskeylover45 · 02/05/2020 09:11

Its...erm...different. The lack of fucks given about the decor is inspiring Grin If I had the money, I would keep the layout of the house, and re do everything else. Re. The chair by the sink, maybe they like to sit down while they do the washing up 😂

vdbfamily · 02/05/2020 09:27

As an occupational therapist, the kitchen shouted out ' micro living' where someone has all they need in a small area . Comfy chair by the Aga with a TV in front. Probably carers coming to help to toilet and bed. She was probably a fascinating lady with quite a life story to tell. What an amazing amount of space though.

Procrastination4 · 02/05/2020 10:27

Actually I looked at the video on the Rightmove page-those rooms are such a generous size! I hope that someone buys it to live in it and love it, not develop it into apartments or whatever.

We all have our own taste-I’m not sure people would like the large marble-topped old hall table I have in my hall, or the 90yr old rosewood bed in one of the bedrooms, or the military chest that belonged to my husband’s great grand uncle and is now in our living room-none of these are the light wood that’s in vogue now, but they all (and we have a few other items) have been in my husband’s family for years and we wouldn’t part with them as we know their stories. I really dislike the home of a certain instagram sensation that other people seem to absolutely adore, for example. It’s not my taste but that doesn’t mean her taste is wrong and mine is right!

The house in wherever(! I’m not in England so have no knowledge of Blackpool, St.Annes/St.Annes or any other areas) is different. And I hope someone buys it and brings new life to it, but as a home, not a “development opportunity”.

Procrastination4 · 02/05/2020 10:28

St.Annes/St.Anne’s!!!

whatdoyoudonow · 02/05/2020 10:38

I want to know who lives/lived there!
I'm guessing an old school Blackpool music/entertainment promoter!
Someone like the Mike Myers character in bohemian rhapsody!
(See pic)

foggyfuzz · 02/05/2020 13:05

It's no one famous :)

Deathraystare · 02/05/2020 13:13

I am trying hard to imagine that the 'proud' owners will be sad to leave their 'lovely' home! Or perhaps someone died there.

Not sure what is worse. I really hate all the wood with passion. My parents went beserk with pine in the 70's. Those awful curtains.
The bed in the garage. Perhaps that is where naughty people sleep?

Lovesabadboy · 02/05/2020 17:33

@PippaPegg - split level always fascinates me too!
I thought I was a bit weird so it is good to read that someone else feels the same.

I am totally fascinated by those 'sunken' lounges which were all the rage in big, trendy houses in the 1970's - they were fab!

I was surprised how much I liked the inside of this house and it would be a shame to knock it down and replace it with an Indetikit 21st Century house!
Like previous people have said, it would make a fabulous film set or museum.

Elderflower14 · 02/05/2020 22:16

Just seen this Love it... Cinema room too!

Darkstarrheart · 02/05/2020 23:36

I like it ...

Shockers · 03/05/2020 06:46

I don’t think it’s a bed- I think it’s a sports car covered over.

Iamthewombat · 03/05/2020 11:22

The funniest thing about this thread is that every page, on average, somebody says, “why is there a bed in the garage?”. Somebody patiently explains that it’s a covered over sports car.

Next page, undaunted: “why is there a bed in the garage?”. Again, somebody patiently explains that it is in fact a covered car.

What better proof that nobody actually reads the thread? Everyone is so keen to share their observation that nobody else can possibly have spotted!

NameChange84 · 03/05/2020 11:58

@Iamthewombat

Totally agree...

FAQ

Q:

Why is there a bed in the garage?

A:

It’s apparently a small green vintage sports car covered over with a duvet.

Q:

Why is this so expensive if it’s in Blackpool?

A:

It’s on the seafront in St Annes, not Blackpool and isn’t that overpriced for this area.

Q:

Why so many chairs?

A:

There was/is a lady in her nineties with a broken hip living there. Presumably it helped her getting around.

Q:

What famous 70s celeb did this house belong to?

A:

No one famous. It’s been in the same family since it was built. The names have been found and people on this thread and twitter know them. The home does not belong to any one well known.

Q: Ewwww why would you have such a creepy, old fashioned looking house?/Is it a sex dungeon?/Where did they hide the body?

A:

Don’t be a dick. This is/was someone’s much loved family home. The gentleman owner died. His wife has either passed away or is in her 90s, infirm and cannot live here anymore. It’s already a house sale in sad circumstances. They couldn’t have anticipated it would go viral and be made a mockery of.

FFS Read the thread and try being kind folks.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 03/05/2020 12:02

[applause] for @NameChange84

Iamthewombat · 03/05/2020 15:44

Applause seconded. I’m sure that somebody would find something sneer-worthy in all of our homes!
