So, honestly...how much are you really drinking?

Hi,

Just that really. Been hearing so much about lockdown drinking becoming an issue.

I'll be honest, mine has been creeping up over the past week or so and this weather certainly isn't helping.

The gin was opened yesterday 😬 but usually it's a couple of glasses of wine most afternoons and a bit more over the weekend.

This isn't going to go on forever, so should we really worry that much if our drinking creeps up a bit?

What about you? Are you drinking more? Are you okay with it under the circumstances?

I'm weekend drinking most days now!

Opps

PurpleDaisies · 08/04/2020 13:51

Almost nothing. I ran out of wine days ago.

Bluebooby · 08/04/2020 13:52

I bought a bottle of vodka for emergencies but I haven't opened it yet. I'm boring. I don't want to drink because I hate feeling hungover and because I drink so infrequently it doesn't take much to make me suffer.

I'm drinking loads more

superram · 08/04/2020 13:53

I’m deliberately not drinking in the week as it’s a slippery slope. However, the weekend starts tomorrow. Probably 2 gins and getting on for a bottle from about 3pm. Not great but Could be worse as over such a long time.

Kitchendoctor · 08/04/2020 13:53

I’m not drinking anymore than usual (prob about 6 to 8 units per week) as I’m concerned about the effect it could have on my immune system.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 08/04/2020 13:54

Too much. But I should be on an all inclusive holiday right now so that's my current excuse.

feelingverylazytoday · 08/04/2020 13:54

I'm not drinking at all until the coronavirus situation is sorted.

massistar · 08/04/2020 13:55

Still working from home so not drinking in the week. Also do a workout with the kids every evening at 6pm which stops us hitting it too early and avoids that witching hour!

MarciaMarciaMarcia · 08/04/2020 13:56

Way more than what is good for me. But, I live overseas and we are on holiday for 2 weeks. Will cut down when work starts up again.

ajandjjmum · 08/04/2020 13:56

I was having just the one drink at the end of each day. However, I take an ACE inhibitor and am also pre-diabetic, so have decided to stop drinking until this is all over. In theory!

tiredanddangerous · 08/04/2020 13:57

I’d say I’m at Christmas levels (I.e too fucking much).

onetwothreeadventure · 08/04/2020 13:57

None this week but 5 days last week. I decided to rein it in this week as I really struggle to get out of bed the next morning and I hate that feeling. I didn't drink for all of February and am thinking of attempting the same for the rest of April.

MorrisZapp · 08/04/2020 13:57

Two beers on a Friday night. I'm paranoid about putting on weight in lockdown.

AgnesNaismith · 08/04/2020 13:57

Every day Blush

BrexpatInSwitzerland · 08/04/2020 13:58

I’d say I’m at Christmas levels (I.e too fucking much).

Same here ... ironically, separation from every other human out there has led to December levels of "virtual beer" videochats.

JungleGiraffe · 08/04/2020 14:00

None... but only because I'm pregnant. I've never craved booze so much Envy

TokyoSushi · 08/04/2020 14:00

None!

I had a big birthday and a big weekend just before lockdown so I didn't feel like drinking for a few days, then I thought I'd challenge myself to doing a bit more, so here I am, currently doing 'dry lockdown!'

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 08/04/2020 14:02

I'm trying to go easy on the alcohol because I'm already worried about becoming a fat bastard during lockdown and drinking shitloads isn't going to help!

Iamblossom · 08/04/2020 14:02

Sometimes one glass of wine a night - easier to do this if I eat early.
Sometimes four glasses - after which I sometimes don't bother to eat.
Rarely more than this though as I don't want a hangover.
Every day though.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 08/04/2020 14:07

None, I drink very rarely anyway so not much different to normal. Last drink I had was new years eve I think. Chocolate eating and the results of Dds baking are a different story though.

lubeybooby · 08/04/2020 14:10

nothing, teetotal

Iamblossom · 08/04/2020 14:10

I often wonder what it would be like to be someone that rarely drinks. I admire you.

blue25 · 08/04/2020 14:15

I haven’t drunk for a week now as it was really affecting my mood and made my energy levels low. Not sure how long I can keep it up though!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/04/2020 14:15

Manage to abstain Mondays and Tuesdays so far then on it for the rest of the week, from 6pmish, which is not good. But still being productive - wfh and having massive clear outs of house and garage/garden/shed.
