What do you wish you’d done before lockdown?

  1. Sorted out and fenced our front garden so we had somewhere outside to sit not in full view of the neighbours
  2. Had a bikini wax
  3. Had my acrylic nails removed
  4. Encouraged DP to get a haircut before it was too late. His hair grows ridiculously fast and he won’t let me touch it

Bit confused by people talking about Easter chocolate. We can still buy that?
We have got enough food etc for a couple of weeks, and don't want to make a special trip to the supermarket and face the queues (and germs!) just for easter eggs, which aren't really a necessity.

YouokHun · 29/03/2020 11:28

I wish I had delayed buying a new car (used car). Two days after I got it from the dealer it went wrong and mechanics inspected it and found missing brake parts and declared it unroadworthy. Now the dealer won’t respond to my rejection of the car, the Small Claims courts aren’t doing business, I can’t help my elderly parents (my father is dying of cancer) without it, I couldn’t drive to my brother’s funeral yesterday, my work has fallen away and the dealer’s got my money.

Hiraeth16 · 29/03/2020 11:28

Bought yeast! Like hens’ teeth now.

SapatSea · 29/03/2020 11:30

Visited my medic eldest DD in London. Don't know when I'll get to hug her again.

Realised that sensitivity to hot and cold food on a molar crown would get worse and have seen a dentist pronto.

London91 · 29/03/2020 11:32

Moved my hygienist and dentists appointment to the week before.
Seen friends and family I've not seen for a while.
Ordered my bed a few weeks earlier.
Brought more baby stuff.

We've been in lockdown for a month and are only using local shops, not supermarkets - but none of them have Easter eggs.

maggiso · 29/03/2020 11:35

Met up with my siblings and their families
Cut my hair ( fringe now in eyes- appointment was due last week)
Mended the lawn mower ( it needs to go to the repair shop)
Bought compost for planting
Photocopied or downloaded files at work (I’ve a poor memory)
Bought flour and yeast

Taken the Christmas tree to the tip. We forgot to put it out the day the council collected and kept meaning to take it but never got round to it. Now we are spending A LOT of time in the garden I really wish there wasn't a big, brown, dead tree on the patio.

NemophilistRebel · 29/03/2020 11:55

We cut our tree up and put it in the garden waste bin 👌🏻

CornedBeef451 · 29/03/2020 11:56

@peterrabbitspossum sorry for your loss.

bluechameleon · 29/03/2020 11:56

Oh, and been to the dentist. Our appointments were cancelled due to the dentist being ill and we hadn't rearranged them, so the children won't have been for over a year by the time this is over.

TheWalkingTalkingRed · 29/03/2020 12:05

Will there be any access to emergency dental care do we think? I'm dosing up on painkillers for now but in past experience they won't hold out long term Sad

IntermittentParps · 29/03/2020 12:07
  • had shellac nails removed
  • had a haircut! I'll come out looking like a yeti.

These are only light-hearted ones. I don't really want to think about more serious ones TBH.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/03/2020 12:09

What happens with acrylic nails when you cant get them professionally maintained or removed ? Do they just keep getting longer as the normal nail underneath grows ? ( tried googling but only seemed to be about having them taken off professionally)

JellyfishandShells. I asked this a few days ago. See thread below.

Gone to visit MIL. We haven’t seen her since before Christmas. She went on a cruise early February and When she came back she was told someone on the ship had CV so she decided to isolate for 2 weeks. That took us to early March and as DD had a lesson every Saturday we struggled to get down to see her. She was going to come up but some bad weather stopped her driving.

None of that is unusual for us, family visits do drop off early in the year. But this year that means it could be summer before we see her again. She is first on our list for a trip out when this has calmed down.

camperjam · 29/03/2020 12:36

Not cancelled my dentist appointment
Bought fence paint
Taken my DS for a haircut
Done a tip run

NeedToKnow101 · 29/03/2020 12:46

@bluechameleon - can't you chop it up small or burn it?

Permissionimpossible · 29/03/2020 12:56

@Sunshine1239
Sorted dds passport - need signature and photo sorting
I’m the opposite. Just spent £150.00 on new passports and I could really be doing with the money in the bank now!

littlebitwooway · 29/03/2020 12:58

Seen my Dad.

Taken all the crap to the dump.

littlebitwooway · 29/03/2020 12:58

Been to the dentist

Lippy1234 · 29/03/2020 12:58

Got my roots coloured.
Bought some comfy clothes. I have a few but could do with some more bottoms.

Lippy1234 · 29/03/2020 12:59

Oh and sold my Barclays shares.

jomaIone · 29/03/2020 13:02

You can still order stuff online btw?? So paint, DIY supplies, bloody Easter eggs??

IdblowJonSnow · 29/03/2020 13:04

Haircut and colour. Dentists.
However I did go to the cinema loads, see lots of my friends, went to l8xal beauty spots for walks and carried on my kids out of school until they closed because I knew what was coming.

MorrisZapp · 29/03/2020 13:04

To the person wishing for birdseed, you might want to check out the classic Peter Kay misheard lyrics clip that's doing the rounds :)
