Woke up at stupid o'clock and started a mental rummage through my cupboards and fridge. Have got up now leaving DP (who's 150 miles from elderly family and a bit down) in bed, and decided to make a lemon/orange drizzle cake. Haven't got a loaf tin but got something in remotely the right shape. Also only have duck eggs (as they were the last ones left when I last went shopping.) I will post a pic when it's ready....hope it's edible, don't fancy slinging out a load of perfectly good ingredients!
Anyone else baking today?

All these delicious flapjack are giving me thoughts. I don't have any syrup. Any idea if I could substitute more sugar?

They look great redtulip12 the crumble looks nice too!

Vinorosso74 · 05/04/2020 17:12

Started out as a Victoria sponge. Put raspberry jam in the middle then DD decided we should put the butter cream on top rather than in the middle. Oh and the buttercream was green. Tastes good, looks odd.
I need to buy flour when I go shopping in the week.

Chocolate orange cookies here!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 05/04/2020 18:29

Keto cheese scones. Ok, but put too much garlic salt in. Still tasting the garlic an hour later.

The British rail gingerbread posted below is different to the one I make which comes from Food from the Place Below - which is the right one? who knows - this one uses dried ginger rather than stem ginger.

I used a delicious magazine sticky gingerbread recipe, adapted as a tray bake - it’s crispy on the outside edges, moist and sticky on the inside.

OrangeBlossom3 · 06/04/2020 22:22

BBC good food chocolate orange brownies today. Devine!

AdoraBell · 06/04/2020 22:26

Banana loaf last week, I’m thinking a Madeira cake tomorrow, or possibly a marble cake.

megletthesecond · 06/04/2020 22:28

Cheese and kale muffins. With a touch of spring onion, cayenne pepper and mustard.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 06/04/2020 22:30

Bloomed I make banana flapjacks with a tablespoon of honey instead of syrup. Depending how much syrup for your recipe you could substitute honey possibly.

MaureenMLove · 06/04/2020 22:44

I'm going to be making a chocolate and saltanas cake tomorrow. Instead of sherry soaked saltanas, it'll be brandy though.

I'm making it for the school staff virtual bake off! My plan is to decorate it as a fault line cake, with the world on the top and bottom and green virus like icing flowers in the middle!

My description will explain that. And that the ingredients are basically what my diet has become - chocolate, brandy and shrivelled up fruit because I can't get a supermarket slot! Grin

I have too much time on my hands....
