I’m avoiding the internet after tonight!

So far I’ve bought some seeds/ plants for the garden to keep us busy.

Some beauty products to make the most of all the time at home.

Some books for the dc and myself to read.

Some vitamins/supplements.

That’s it, no more non essentials now.

Leobynature · 22/03/2020 23:09

@JuanSheetIsPlenty I’m sorry, this pandemic has impacted people in many different ways. I hope the next few weeks aren’t too difficult.

Bloodybridget · 22/03/2020 23:11

A birthday present for DGD, yoga mats for myself and DP, a case of wine (I read on MN that it's in short supply in supermarkets ) . . If only Lidl delivered chocolate I'd be all set!

BrieAndChilli · 22/03/2020 23:15

Shrinkie plastic sheets and earring and badge backs for DD
Hot glue gun glue sticks
White card
Lined paper

Some reading books
Balsa wood
Fimo set
Felt tips
Paints
Kids escape room game
Star Wars paper plane book

@Tuliptulip best comment on here. The big boys will survive this, independent shops especially those in your local community will struggle to reopen, if at all. Pick up the phone to the independent retailer if you’re isolating, so many of them are delivering locally.

Letsnotusemyname · 22/03/2020 23:17

So far.....

10 lengths of 3x2.
1 saniflo toilet macerator.

Tomorrow
6 8x4 sheets of plasterboard
6 lengths of copper pipe + fittings.

Later
Toilet
Basin
Shower and tray
Tiles.

Doing a socially isolating ensuite.

puppymouse · 22/03/2020 23:18

I spent £120 on a new trampoline for DD today Sad

Next door have a huge one she normally goes on with her friend who lives there. I figure if we put ours in the right place they can both bounce together and shout over the fence (hip height so easy to communicate) to stop her having no contact at all face to face with other children but still be a safe distance.

dellacucina · 22/03/2020 23:18

I went to a local toy shop and bought my daughter a scooter so I can take her out and burn off her energy without her touching literally everything.

I also bought a desk a day or two ago which I was hoping to assemble upon its arrival tomorrow, but of course delivery has been delayed.

My initial thought was that I would save money, but the boredom and ennui is quite a surprising force in favour of capitalism.

Ohffs66 · 22/03/2020 23:22

I really want a pressure washer but trying not to spend any money....

couchlover · 22/03/2020 23:23

@grabbners - he promises if he has a hoover he likes he will hoover more - I'm not sure I believe him 😂

Teabaseddiet · 22/03/2020 23:25

I've bought
A desk
Computer chair
Paper
Ink

  • so I can work

DVDs
Books
Garden stuff - sand pit, water pit, compost, bug hotel, seeds, fairy garden kit
Craft kits
Music books

  • to entertain kids

Yoga ball & mat (for me now classes are off)

Paint & decorating supplies - just in case we get time.

It's getting a bit expensive

longhaulstress · 22/03/2020 23:26

I've bought a new board game, some stationary, dolls house furniture and a pack of 3 soft yoga bras as otherwise I'll be tucking my boobs in my socks by the time we come out of isolation.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/03/2020 23:26

Bunch of lego sets and a Nintendo Switch Grin
With all the money I've saved by not never getting to go anywhere!

PhantomErik · 22/03/2020 23:27

Nothing so far BUT it's quite likely we'll order the materials for building a partition wall from a local supplier inc plaster & paint etc so we can get our 2 DS's bedrooms a more even size.

Last week when it was announced that schools were closing I went through the house finding pens, pencils, craft materials etc & also noticed lots of crafts & activity sets that haven't been completed yet so hoping to put them to good use.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 22/03/2020 23:29

Oh, I must order paper! I've bought sewing patterns, fabric, thread and sewing machine feet for me, plus textbooks, paint and sweets for the kids.
I'd already bought the plants and seeds I need for the garden, plus the seed potatoes, so I'm set for activities for a while.

KoalasandRabbit · 22/03/2020 23:30

So far 1 laptop for the kids, a mini freezer as we didn't have one and are rural and only people under 70 here, a few study guides for the kids and 3 silkie chickens and a chicken coop. And 78 tins of renal diet cat food. The cat is hoping those are out of stock Grin

Fartlek · 22/03/2020 23:44

We've bought cat LITTER and a swing ball set for DS. I've bought 2 of the Clinique moisturiser I use and a whole set of reusable menstrual pads. Currently looking to purchase some shelf brackets, screws and rawl plugs for a project.

LightACandleHoney · 22/03/2020 23:46

Online purchases in the last 24 hours
Blush

  • Posh hand cream (the only one that seems to actually work for me) due to the increased hand washing.
  • Compact 10 port charger due to everyone being at home and using their phones and iPads a hell of a lot more than normal.
  • 3x charging cables for the same reason as above - plus 1 DC left one in school last week and DH left one in the office.
  • Stationery inc exercise books (these were very hard to get), scrapbooks, pens, treasury tags, blank revision flash cards & printer paper, due to now home schooling 4 DC for the foreseeable future.
  • 3 books which were a promised reward to youngest 2 DC for smashing their reading targets at school.
  • 7.5kg chocolate for the probably daily increased baking I’ll be doing to stay sane.

The charger/cables and some of the stationery were from Amazon (because simply not available anywhere else).

The hand cream was from the only shop which sells it.

The books and the rest of the stationery were from our local bookstore.

The chocolate was from an online supplier I use regularly.

teenmumandsowhat · 22/03/2020 23:59

All I’ve bought is new pyrex, I’m doing a lot of batch cooking and meal stretching. And a set of new pyrex is a big treat, and will make things easier than my current system of random ice cream tubs and old pyrex with almost perished lids.

Gingerkittykat · 23/03/2020 00:03

A bread maker would be good if people don’t have one already.

One day last week I looked on Amazon and there were breadmakers. I thought it over and the next day they were all gone and the basic £50 Morphy Richards one was selling for £300 on Ebay.

Redyoyo · 23/03/2020 00:03

We got the kids a new trampoline I'm so worried about them not getting enough exercise. I also bought stuff for the house from the next sale. Going to order paint tomorrow. I'm still working and dh has been told he'll get paid and we are due refunds on 2 holidays so we might as well get stuff done about the house while we're off.

Gingerkittykat · 23/03/2020 00:08

I've just bought some reusable sanitary towels from Amazon prime, I did look on the local zero waste shop first but they closed yesterday.

I wish I could Amazon prime paracetamol, DD started her period today and we have 10 tablets left between us.

I don't know if I can buy DIY supplies to be delivered, now would be a perfect time to refresh the tired and grubby looking hall.

MercianQueen · 23/03/2020 00:14

I've bought a jigsaw (Wasgij) and a jigsaw mat. And a set of hairdressing scissors on the assumption I'll be cutting my own Bob this week.

The terror!
