It’s been an expensive evening. Anyone else?

I’m avoiding the internet after tonight!

So far I’ve bought some seeds/ plants for the garden to keep us busy.

Some beauty products to make the most of all the time at home.

Some books for the dc and myself to read.

Some vitamins/supplements.

That’s it, no more non essentials now.

£60 worth of cat litter ( Heaven forbid the moggies would have to plant their bums on soil)

wildcherries · 22/03/2020 22:09

Too many jigsaw puzzles.

MyOtherProfile · 22/03/2020 22:09

This is a revelation! I was thinking today how much we will save by not needing to buy anything. Have spent less than usual the last week.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/03/2020 22:09

@pollyglot depends on the time scale... One night, too much. A week... Slightly excessive. A month... Might be struggling!

Morgan · 22/03/2020 22:10

I bought hair cutting scissors too @weallhavewings

Straycatstrut · 22/03/2020 22:11

Things for the kids mainly. Stationary, paint, activity books, jigsaws, stampers, chalk pens, science kits, and a little table and chairs for them to sit at.

I'm putting in quite bulk order of wine now seeing as Tesco didn't turn up!... gyms will be busy once they re-open!!

Thank foof for Amazon.

PoetLauren · 22/03/2020 22:12

Bloody hell. Im jealous of you lot. We're likely to lose our jobs and home. Nevermind anything else. I'm not spaffing money up the wall on hobby craft shite.

Grabbners · 22/03/2020 22:13

I’m not feeling so bad now :)

I've spent a fortune on garden stuff for DD! Swing, slide, sand and water table, rocker thing...

DesLynamsMoustache · 22/03/2020 22:14

Oh and gin.

Grabbners · 22/03/2020 22:14

Oh that was a mistimed cross post :(.

I’m sorry Poet that your jobs are in jeopardy.

I bought a slow cooker but bread makers are out of stock everywhere

Isleepinahedgefund · 22/03/2020 22:16

Yep - huge build a bear order to complete the Easter bunny family (as a surprise - DD was inconsolable when she found out they closed stores - she had carefully planned all her pocket money so she could get them all in the next few weeks and currently only has 1 of them)

All sorts of edumacational things, sticker books, crafty bits, music books - it has been a very expensive few days 😬

Just hope deliveries continue!

Ikeameatballs · 22/03/2020 22:16

I spent £60 on a cushion cross stitch kit.

rslsys · 22/03/2020 22:17

I've got in only 10 bottles of wine...will that be enough, do you think?
Yes, so long as you can put another order in on Tuesday

SecretWitch · 22/03/2020 22:17

I’ve ordered sharp scissors for my fringe, 2 boxes of toner for my ash blonde hair, a raspberry scented Yankee Candle, 3 books for my kindle and a beautiful wool yurt for my cats.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 22/03/2020 22:19

In the past 5 days, a kindle, an iPhone, lots of craft supplies, board games, light up thumbs, books, even more fabric, a rake head and lots of food, all online. Smallest daughter’s birthday this week coming as well as self isolating.

TangoWhisky · 22/03/2020 22:19

Yep.... Iv ordered afew things over the last few days that have cost double if i had been able to go to the shops to buy them

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 22/03/2020 22:19

DH spent a small fortune on some thing that you put a bike on to use in the garden or garage. Apparently there was high demand for them

Also bought loads of decorating stuff and garden stuff as a bit worried it might sell out

TangoWhisky · 22/03/2020 22:21

Poet....

Not sure of your situation but the government are promising to help.

Please speak to citizens advice and see what can be offered to you.

Im sorry if not relevant

TheoriginalLEM · 22/03/2020 22:21

I bought a dashcam for dp's birthday, he loves a gadget. Bit irresponsible but it's his bday Tuesday and I've been self isolating (we all have) and I wanted to get him something. Was going to get a cheapo one for £20 it was in my basket ffs, then i saw a Garmin one and blew £80 fml.

Although I scored big time and found a second hand motorbike mechanics book from 1980 for £1.50

anothernewone · 22/03/2020 22:26

Another one that panic bought an adventure playground.

We have already had a week off and finding wfh difficult

StandingStrongForNow · 22/03/2020 22:27

I bought a load of water lily plants and a mini greenhouse thingy. I had lots more but managed to click on save for later to stop myself buying them. I’m anxious and it’s a displacement activity. Also I miss my mum today. She died a few months ago.

PoetLauren · 22/03/2020 22:29

Sorry, I didn't mean to bring the thread down, but I'm genuinely agog at this thread.
Yes the government are planning on helping but... forgive me for being very cynical and saying that I will believe it when I see it. I just don't think that for my partner and I this will work. I'm literally wondering which friend or family member would let us live in a tent in their garden.
That's if we manage to avoid this awful illness anyway.

Dashel · 22/03/2020 22:29

A crate of wine, a load of wood and scissors for DH to cut my hair. These seem to be the new toilet paper 😂 DH doesn’t seem keen on the idea but it really needs doing as it’s getting too long.

I also ordered the inlaws a fruit and veg box with potatoes and eggs. They need to self isolate for 12 more weeks and we are so far away. DH was helping them set up What’s App and helping them sort out video calling, so I got the better deal 😂
