It’s been an expensive evening. Anyone else?

I’m avoiding the internet after tonight!

So far I’ve bought some seeds/ plants for the garden to keep us busy.

Some beauty products to make the most of all the time at home.

Some books for the dc and myself to read.

Some vitamins/supplements.

That’s it, no more non essentials now.

£80 on plants
£400 on a climbing frame but this I am hoping will get a good return on investment as we both try to work from home and keep our jobs!

Grabbners · 22/03/2020 21:43

I’m feeling like an amateur now!

Seeds and garden chairs.

jmh740 · 22/03/2020 21:45

This weekend I've had to buy a laptop and printer so dd and ds can do school work at home, bought workbooks from amazon dd is not impressed with that and £40 worth of art and craft stuff from the works

Luunaa · 22/03/2020 21:45

I've just bought a new (very expensive) sex toy thanks to the vibrator thread!

Grabbners · 22/03/2020 21:45

foam I was sort of worried about that earlier, ie forcing people to be out delivering. But the flip side is that we’re helping to keep companies afloat, and delivery drivers in work.

Luunaa - necessary purchase to maintain equilibrium :)

Oh yes, the combination of The Book People going to administration so having a massive sale with us being stuck in has put a significant dent in my account BlushGrin

Hippee · 22/03/2020 21:56

So sad about the Book People Sad Just received my last order from them. It was very cheap, but I'd rather have paid more and kept them.

Leeds2 · 22/03/2020 21:56

I put in a rather large (for me!) order with Laithwaites Wine.

Redshoeblueshoe · 22/03/2020 21:57

There is a way to make bread in a slow cooker. Don't ask me how, but Google will tell you

Oh bollocks! I forgot to get batteries. 😭

NotDisclosedToday · 22/03/2020 21:58

Cooker? What did you do to your food before this started?

sarahC40 · 22/03/2020 21:58

Beer. Lots.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 22/03/2020 21:59

Yeah splurged on clothes for the kids for spring/summer... they won't be wearing their school uniforms anymore! (internet order just in case anyone thinks I've been out)

Divebar · 22/03/2020 21:59

@RunningAwaywiththeCircus

I should have guessed. For flour check out any “ ethnic” food shops ... good for big bags of rice, lentils etc too. Smaller independent shops can buy directly from the wholesalers and have shorter restock times. If you want to do bread without yeast and a bread maker you can try soda bread. Jamie Oliver does one with Porridge oats / Rye flour ( if you can get either of those). I’m sure there are tons are alternative loaves you can make if you are up to being adventurous.

bushtailadventures · 22/03/2020 22:03

Bought a trampoline for the garden for dgd, and a little one for inside for me, although she's been using that one too. Art stuff, books, decorating equipment too. Wellies for dgd probably most important, hers are still at school and I want to get her in the garden no matter what the weather, for all our sanity.

pollyglot · 22/03/2020 22:04

I've got in only 10 bottles of wine...will that be enough, do you think?

WeAllHaveWings · 22/03/2020 22:04

All I've ordered from Amazon this week is a pair of hairdressing scissors. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Not even sure if dh and ds will let me cut their hair, if not I'll use them on my fringe.

Saisong · 22/03/2020 22:05

Effing DH has spent the better part of £400 on a fancy coffee making machine Angry. He does love his coffee, and I know he won't get any fancy barista-curated black gold for the foreseeable. But it knocks all my careful economising and meal planning into a cocked hat. I can't really argue because he brings in the majority of the household income, plus he now has to try and do his job from home while I wrangle the kids. Still - we have plenty of 'decent' instant and I hardly feel like now is the time for indulgence!

NotDisclosedToday · 22/03/2020 22:05

Sold some old home gym equipment I dont need so feeling quids in. Kept the weights though because I use them.

smiften · 22/03/2020 22:07

Printer ink, it's a lot more expensive than last time.

64sNewName · 22/03/2020 22:07

We bought a new iPad today to stop the dc borrowing the sacred Work iPad, and to help with schooling and reduce squabbling.

£££

TheMostHappy · 22/03/2020 22:08

Trampoline and Wendy house for the garden here 💸💸💸🙈

OhTheRoses · 22/03/2020 22:08

I've been thinking about what I might save. £120pcm petrol, £140 hair pcm, £150pcm visiting dd at uni pcm. Oh yes and then an extra £60pw on food because everyone's here and/or wfh.
