I just did a standing ovation. Powerful message!

That's it really!

Did anyone else see it?

@GEEpEe & I'm sure I would side eye those celebs too. A lot of what Dave said I agree with but there is an issue in our society with young black boys killing each other & gang culture being glorified, hence why I find it uncomfortable.

BrutusMcDogface · 19/02/2020 08:16

I’ve never heard of Dave (I only clicked on this post because I thought you might have meant Dave Grohl....Blush)

However, I just watched it and thought it was excellent. Not my usual taste in music but definitely a very talented bloke.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 19/02/2020 08:18

I'm another oldie whose grime-loving son introduced to Dave.
He blew me away with his talent. The Brits performance was electrifying. An outstanding poet.
And I'm thinking that if he can make a 46 year old folk-loving white woman feel like that, imagine the effect on his target demographic. Lord knows they need more voices.
Well done that man I say.

GEEpEe · 19/02/2020 08:20

@boredbored

I suggest you watch this:

The factors that are prevalent in the offenders of serious youth violence are being in care, experiencing domestic abuse and low educational attainment. Race has nothing to do with it. Ever heard of Glasgow?

buttonmoonb4tea · 19/02/2020 08:21

@boredbored I hear you. There is an issue with young black boys killing each other and glorifying gang violence does perpetuate that. I can see how him having his brother on the album isn't right. But it's his brother. I can see why he would want to share something so positive with him.

IDK 🤷🏽‍♀️ I can see where you're coming from though.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 19/02/2020 08:22

Imagine a Dave Grohl and Dave duet. Grin
Simultaneously causing young kids and Peri menopausal women to spontaneously combust.

GEEpEe · 19/02/2020 08:23

Seriius youth violence is not a black issue. It's closer to a poverty issue. Can we stop saying this please? Anyone remember Rhys Jones?

SushiGo · 19/02/2020 08:25

Amazing performance.

It can be uncomfortable to confront the truth, which is why he clearly makes some people uncomfortable.

Boris is unquestionably racist, the fact that lots of British people don't want to accept that really unquestionably racist things our prime minister has said on tv and in his own columns are racist is their own failing.

Squirrelpeanutbutter · 19/02/2020 08:25

@recordbox

Spectacularly missing the point with this wee gem

As you have yourself! 😂

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 19/02/2020 08:26

Yes yes gee. I'm just waiting for someone to come along and espose some Andrew Sabisky type values.

Posts like bored's just highlight how far we still have to go to eradicate racism.

boredbored · 19/02/2020 08:27

Thank you @buttonmoonb4tea
Admittedly I know people who have been affected by knife/gang crime in terms of prison & life changing injuries so that affects my opinion I'm sure. I also have an issue with drill music but can understand why it's there. I was also born & raised not far from Dave.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 19/02/2020 08:28

*espouse

GEEpEe · 19/02/2020 08:29

Then you have no excuse for not knowing that serious youth violence has been a problem in inner cities in the UK for 200 years. Particularly knife crime. FFS Peaky Blinders, loosely based on the real gang wars we had in that era, is a top show on BBC. How many black people do you see in that? Wise up.

boredbored · 19/02/2020 08:29

I love it! I'm not white & my parents are immigrants but I'm being called a racist. No doubt by a number of white ladies posting from Tunbridge Wells! 🤣

GEEpEe · 19/02/2020 08:31

I'm a very middle classed white boy, Oxbridge educated to boot, and I think you're ignorant AF. Whether you're racist or not depends on various factors but your categorisation as serious youth violence as a black issue shows you're likely educated by the Sun and Mail.

Gilead · 19/02/2020 08:33

Everything he said was right, it was beautifully and brilliantly performed.
As for having his brother on the album, well he talks about rehabilitation. We give other people a voice, Including the 27 year old white guy who stated that black people have a lower IQ. We have a prime minister who appears to support that view. Dave’s performance was a more than reasonable one.

buttonmoonb4tea · 19/02/2020 08:33

I think saying youth violence is not linked to race is disingenuous. Yes it's linked to poverty, but you can't deny the levels of black boys who are victims/perpetrators of youth violence.

I say that as a mother of a black boy. I'm actually scared for him because I know the obstacles he has to face 😞

@boredbored

Yes, outraged of middle England. Virtue signalling in action! 😂

boredbored · 19/02/2020 08:36

Where did I do this?

The irony of someone posting a link from Good morning britain to tell me about my experiences 🤣🤣

Gilead · 19/02/2020 08:38

Ah, virtue signalling, you’ll be calling us snowflakes next. The name calling when you have no argument. Go take your logical fallacies elsewhere.
(61 year old not quite white enough south London council estate upbringing).

CallofDoodee · 19/02/2020 08:39

Knife crime is a problem amongst young black men in London actually. Black men are the perpetrators and victims of knife crime at a much higher rate than the population of black people in London.

The same is not true across the rest of the UK.

I don't think its racist to state that fact. There are many reasons why it is the case.

boredbored · 19/02/2020 08:42

Yes, outraged of middle England. Virtue signalling in action!

But it's totally fine for a white man to minimise my experience & call me racist & ignorant.

Are young black males in my life far more likely to be a victim of knife crime for going into the wrong estate, even if they are not affiliated with a gang?

beachbelleorbeachbum · 19/02/2020 08:42

Incredible. I too clapped at the end and watched it 3 times with different family members. All he said is true.

Janus · 19/02/2020 08:43

Watched it, I thought that was stand out amazing and had me in tears.

recordbox · 19/02/2020 08:44

As you have yourself!

Perhaps I have missed the point. Perhaps you could explain? Your post was only 5 words so very easy for anyone to pick up incorrectly. Maybe more information?
