I just did a standing ovation. Powerful message!

That's it really!

Did anyone else see it?

@Popper56 I would have agreed with you too about 2 years ago, Grime was just noise to me.

But I do like hip hop, I'm of the Biggie, Tupac era. I started reminiscing about 2 years ago and listening to early American hip hop then sort of transitioned onto recent UK artists. There are some really talented people around at the moment.

I also think Kano is fab. His most recent album is very powerful. Check out his performance on Jools Holland's show if you like that sort of thing Smile

I disagree with featuring his brother on his album.

Charley50 · 18/02/2020 22:53

He was brilliant. Celeste blew me away too. As did Lizzo, who I always see in the Metro but I hadn't heard her music.
But especially Dave and Celeste.

buttonmoonb4tea · 18/02/2020 22:55

he was immense
Black is an amazing song in any case, and stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it, but the extra verse at the end totally made the performance

And his smile is gorgeous sorry to derail Grin

GabsAlot · 18/02/2020 23:18

whose his brother?

boredbored · 18/02/2020 23:27

google it

Rollergirl11 · 18/02/2020 23:29

His brother was convicted and is serving time for murder. He does a guest vocal on the album.

DailyKegelReminder · 18/02/2020 23:35

Very powerful I agree OP.

fastliving · 18/02/2020 23:36

Amazing. Beautiful.

WiltedDaffs · 18/02/2020 23:37

I thought he was brilliant. The Brit Award performance is now available on his Youtube channel

june2007 · 18/02/2020 23:38

Not keen on the song.

Whydididothatfuckingthing · 18/02/2020 23:43

Personally thought it was racist.

Bouledeneige · 18/02/2020 23:53

I had the Brits on this evening and I thought Dave was standout amazing. I found it quite moving actually. But I also really rated Stormzy, Lizzo, Celeste and Harry Styles' performances. And actually Billie Eilish was good too - though we heard a warning there from a young woman saying about how much hate she's been feeling from people - but the audience were all smiling at her. She 18 FFS.

I was reading twitter as I watched and I was surprised at the comments about not knowing who anyone was. I'm 56 and I knew who they all were and their music - not least because of my late teens music tastes. Though some people on twitter also complained that it was very downbeat - I thought it serious and sensitive in parts. I also liked the fact that winning the awards means so much to the artists.

SirChing · 18/02/2020 23:58

Holy shit. That was amazing and the last verse made me sob.

@Whydididothatfuckingthing It isn't racist for a Black person to talk about what being black means for them in the works. Bloody good on him!

recordbox · 18/02/2020 23:58

Personally thought it was racist.

How so?

SirChing · 18/02/2020 23:58

*world not works

june2007 · 18/02/2020 23:59

Last verse was an opinionated rant.

theluckiest · 19/02/2020 00:01

I thought that was fucking brilliant.

Eloquent, clever and very powerful.

user1471448556 · 19/02/2020 00:02

Personally I found the ‘opinionated rant’ moving, powerful and resonant. And give me people expressing opinions with passion any day of the week in place of dirge about relationships. Each to their own.

SirChing · 19/02/2020 00:04

Last verse was an opinionated rant

If that's the case, I hope Dave has many, many more rants!

Bouledeneige · 19/02/2020 00:08

Last verse was an opinionated rant

Powerful, poetic and polemical. Just what good rap should be.

Sagradafamiliar · 19/02/2020 00:10

It was awesome.

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 19/02/2020 00:24

Personally thought it was racist

I love these parody accounts on mn. Grin

Upherefordancing · 19/02/2020 00:32

I've avoided the Brits for years as it's usually so rubbish but my DD13 wanted to watch it for Being Eilish.

She was...ok, but Dave and Stormzy OMG, made it the best Brits in years IMO!

Mumajoy · 19/02/2020 00:49

Dave was amazing...powerful performance..visuals..everything...nothing else to say...he said it all
