Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

PGT30G Istanbul - Stansted is doing some little loops

There has only been one in the hold for Gatwick since, the 777, a few more inbounds teaching now though so should be attempts soon.

My eyes confirm that flights are landing in Glasgow. It's not that bad here at all. I can see blue in the sky and the gusts have really died down in the last hour.

Don't think anything is landing at Luton at the moment. A couple look like they're trying, but then round they go again and then head off west.
Think I'm on a different site to you lot though. Where are you? Flight Radar 24?

Just looking at Gatwick - BA 2202 from Cancun appears to have had one go already and is now circling to try again.

'Little loops' holding is perfectly normal for all London airports though. Don't read too much into aircraft holding patterns, it's not weather related it's standard practice.

BA2202 is still flying around.

smashstore I didn't even know I could do that I mainly just use the app for checking where a flight is headed when I hear or see one. The airport just looks a lot quieter than usual as not showing planes on the ground like it usually does.

I am newish to this. Based on flight pattern does ba224 new Orleans to heathrow look like it's going for a second attempt? The circle doesnt look like one of the stacks?

I remember many years ago a KLM flight that was coming into Baku but got diverted to Tehran. But that flight was the connection for transatlantic flights so was full of American citizens. Oops!

My DH has been working at Manchester airport overnight for an airline company. Very windy night there. He says they put fuel on the ones that were parked up overnight to weigh them down.
