Been geeking this morning on the number of flights having to go around

Noticed several Gatwick and Luton flights diverting to Stanstead

Check out DI7018 JFK- Gatwick

Two attempts at Gatwick, seemed to be heading for Stanstead, but now the Norwegian airlines crew seem to be taking everyone home with them!

Poor passengers!

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:10

Maybe off to Birmingham too.

NumberMonkey · 16/02/2020 00:11

Grab Canaria definitely attempting Birmingham.

I really need to go to bed Sad

Tenerife climbing again.

Yup and off up north.....

twilightcafe · 16/02/2020 00:11

So close, yet so far.

NoGravyForYou · 16/02/2020 00:12

Poor people on these late diverted planes.

Papergirl1968 · 16/02/2020 00:12

It is curiously addictive! And I too need to go to bed instead of sitting here peering at the phone.
I wonder if the pilots feel extra pressure knowing the plane ahead of them managed to land...

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:13

Though BA doesn't fly to Birmingham on second thoughts.

I need to go to bed too!

twilightcafe · 16/02/2020 00:14

Could it be heading for Heathrow?

peekaboob · 16/02/2020 00:16

FR2678 just missed Luton and is climbing.

tabletray · 16/02/2020 00:16

Could it be heading for Heathrow?

No. Heathrow won't take a diversion unless it's an emergency.

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:16

Yay, Tirana landed! (And I learned it's in Albania!)

NumberMonkey · 16/02/2020 00:18

Gran Canaria landed to I think - although Birmingham to Gatwick isn’t an easy journey!

tabletray · 16/02/2020 00:19

Though BA doesn't fly to Birmingham on second thoughts.

They can still divert to Birmingham, they are not but just because they don't fly to/from an airport doesn't mean that airport won't accept them as a diversions

twilightcafe · 16/02/2020 00:21

Ooo - looks like BA2731 will be flying over my house soon.

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:22

Manchester to Gatwick not even bothering!

notimagain · 16/02/2020 00:22

That really shouldn't enter into the thinking.., one reason being different aircraft have different crosswind limits, plus the aircraft ahead might have got lucky and landed between gusts, it's basically a case of each crew playing the hand they are dealt.

NumberMonkey · 16/02/2020 00:22

What’s the Manchester to LGW flight up to?

tabletray · 16/02/2020 00:23

Looks like ATC told them to go around.... lots of ground vehicles on the runway

twilightcafe · 16/02/2020 00:25

Is the Manchester to Gatwick a "dead flight"? I can't imagine Ryanair doing this as a passenger route.

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:26

BA2731 is going to Birmingham.

NoGravyForYou · 16/02/2020 00:26

Certainly looks that way @TabbyStar

TabbyStar · 16/02/2020 00:27

And BA2665 looks like it's flying sideways to Gatwick!

tabletray · 16/02/2020 00:27

It's a positioning flight. The aircraft diverted to MAN earlier today.
