DD 14 drink spiked

I am at work tonight. Unbeknown to me, daughter and friends snuck out to a party. Looks like my daughter was either spiked or drunk too much.

She is fine, going in the ambulance to hospital. What will they do? I feel so helpless. Husband in bed and can’t wake him.

Suitable punishment? Only child who has hot teenager age yet and it’s so unknown. I just don’t know what to do

I assume they will try and decide if she has been spiked or just drunk too much as this will determine what treatment if any she receives. Can you not leave work as emergency time off for dependent? Who will be at the hospital with her?

StCharlotte · 01/01/2020 01:12

Perhaps her experience tonight will be punishment enough?

Holdingtherope · 01/01/2020 01:13

I am the only RMN in a care home. The on call isn’t picking up and the next nurse cant get here until 6. Her friends are with her at hospital

I'd be raging with your husband tbh! Presumably he should have his phone on loud if you're at work and knowing DD not home??

DD will learn from this, try not to be too harsh. I remember getting totally drunk at a similar age... my parents didn't punish me as they realised I felt bad enough. Never did it again.

notanurse2017 · 01/01/2020 01:14

Your dd needs a parent with her in hospital???

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 01/01/2020 01:15

Are you going with her ?

Isadora2007 · 01/01/2020 01:15

She doesn’t need a punishment- her consequence is being served to her right now. I can’t believe no one can over you and your husband won’t waken up. That’s awful. Sorry you can’t be with your daughter. 😔

TheoriginalLEM · 01/01/2020 01:15

Yep - she's going to feel AWFUL and be terrified. Can you get off work?

anothernamejeeves · 01/01/2020 01:15

You need to call a relative or neighbour to wake him. The hospital will insist on having next of kin present or how can they decide on treatment?

Rachelfromfriends1 · 01/01/2020 01:16

In my experience she must be in a bad way if they took her to hospital, they do their best to ask you to go home and sober up, especially if you have friends to escort and look after you.

Perhaps she may get her stomach pumped if it’s alcohol poisoning. They will absolutely look into whether she’s been spoiled

Rachelfromfriends1 · 01/01/2020 01:16

Spoiled=spiked sorry

CareOfPunts · 01/01/2020 01:16

You need to keep ringing your husband. Hope she’s ok. My son is 14 in a few months and the thought of this being him is scary x

Screamqueenz · 01/01/2020 01:17

It's a fairly typical scenario, she's much more likely to have had too much to drink at a teenage party rather than been spiked.
I hope she wasn't too unwell, but why couldn't your DH have been woken?

Bunnybigears · 01/01/2020 01:17

Her friends are with her at hospital she needs an adult there not a bunch of presumably also drunk 14 year olds!

ChidiAnnaKendrick · 01/01/2020 01:17

Can’t wake him? Can’t wake him? Ffs make him get up and parent!!

Rachelfromfriends1 · 01/01/2020 01:17

Yes your husband needs to get out of bed

Rachelfromfriends1 · 01/01/2020 01:18

Do you have access to his find my iPhone /iCloud account or android equivalent? You can force his phone to play a loud noise

PanicAndRun · 01/01/2020 01:18

Whatever happens to her next is punishment enough.

However you do need to look into how she snuck out and I would give a consequence for that.

Did your husband know she went out or did he sleep through it all?

CareOfPunts · 01/01/2020 01:19

Can’t wake him? Can’t wake him? Ffs make him get up and parent!!

Presumably she’s trying. What do you propose she does? She’s at work and can’t exactly leave.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 01/01/2020 01:19

'She is fine' despite an ambulance taking her to hospital?!

CareOfPunts · 01/01/2020 01:20

Are there any neighbours or friends who might still be up who could pop round and hammer the door?

Do hospitals have protocols when unattended children are brought in?

eveshopper · 01/01/2020 01:21

@ChidiAnnaKendrick

Can’t wake him? Can’t wake him? Ffs make him get up and parent!!

Perhaps you could provide some advice on how to do this to accompany your comment? It wouldn't look so stupid then Hmm

OP is there anyone at all that can go knock your door to wake him? If not someone that can go to the hospital until you can?

Ginfordinner · 01/01/2020 01:24

This is one of the reasons we still have a landline. None of us can sleep through the landline ringing.

And what was the husband thinking of going to bed while the 14 year old is out at a party? I would also be raging at him.

stickerqueen · 01/01/2020 01:25

I'm sure they would have a protocol which might mean the police knocking op's door or calling social services.

PickAChew · 01/01/2020 01:25

I would give the ward his number. Was he supposed to be in charge of your dd?
