How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

9.30, which is a lot later than I normally vote, so that could account for some of it, but normally I see at the most, one other person.
Today, a massive queue into the street and more queueing inside.
I'm not well, so had put a jumper and coat over my nightdress and walked down, and the sight of the queue nearly made me turn round again!
I did see 3 dogs in the queue as I was leaving though, so that revived me Smile

Dead at 2pm. Tory Safe seat.

ihateryansworld · 12/12/2019 14:46

I queued at my station the first times ever! Safe DUP seat but even chatting to the lady at the door she was shocked by the new faces this year. Fingers crossed Arlene and her donkeys get put out to pasture!

08:10 at my polling station was pretty busy. Mostly cyclists on their way to work. Age group looked to be between 30 - 60. There were 6 people in the q ahead of me.

ifonly4 · 12/12/2019 14:54

11.45am (my usual time on way to work) - it's a quiet time but I'd say it was fractionally busier than usual.

spiderlight · 12/12/2019 15:16

Very quiet at ours just after 9am. Safe Labour seat.

Redwinestillfine · 12/12/2019 15:19

About the same as usual at 9.30am, steady stream

WooMaWang · 12/12/2019 15:21

Mine was quiet when I went on the way back from work. DP said it was very quiet when he went at lunchtime too.

Grasspigeons · 12/12/2019 15:22

Quiet at 2.20. Tory safe seat

WooMaWang · 12/12/2019 15:23

My quiet station is in a safe labour seat.

Sandaled · 12/12/2019 15:24

No one else was in there, but guessing it was busier around school run times and after work it will pick up, although I've always been the only one in there whenever I have voted.

Olissa8 · 12/12/2019 15:25

I was the only voter in mine at lunchtime. DP said he was the only one there at 8am. We are a big rural constituency. Labour were closing the gap with the Cons in 2017, but I'm not sure they'll swing it.

littlepooch · 12/12/2019 15:27

Busier than usual but not heaving at 9.30am.
Very marginal seat (45 votes in it last time) so I expect turn out to be even better than usual.

I do think a lot of people do postal votes round here though.

MamaGothel · 12/12/2019 15:28

2pm, safe Tory seat. Not busy but a steady trickle of people.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 12/12/2019 15:29

I went straight after school drop off this morning was about 12 people however was starting to get busy.

runwithme · 12/12/2019 15:29

Only one at mine, but two on their way in, I'd say late 30's and early 30's. That was 40 mins ago. Tory area

wowfudge · 12/12/2019 15:32

Only me and DP at our at 8.15 this morning. We passed another voter on our way out. I've never known it busy. The constituency changed from Tory to Labour at the last GE.

Cwenthryth · 12/12/2019 15:37

Went at 12.30, usually it’s very quiet and maybe see one other person, today there was a steady stream, def busier than usual

katy1213 · 12/12/2019 15:38

One very old man and me - at 2.30pm in London.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/12/2019 15:40

Never busy at mine (safe labour seat). Was there at 8am on way to work and passed only one person on way out.

toastofthetown · 12/12/2019 15:43

I was the only person there at 7:15; I probably missed the rush at opening. Safe Conservative seat.

Eve · 12/12/2019 15:43

Was only person in mine and as I had a chat with the very bored clerks was there for about 20 minutes.

Personita · 12/12/2019 15:43

I went at 11:30 and people were queuing for spaces in the car park. That usually only happens on flu jab clinic day! DH says it was same when he went at 8am.

Marginal Tory/Labour seat with about 70% turnout at the last GE

ifonly4 · 12/12/2019 15:43

Just spoken to DH. He always votes at 7am and is usually the first (we're in quite a large area). This morning he arrived at 6.50am to find eight people queuing outside. Guessing they don't want to vote on a cold wet dark winters eve, or have Xmas parties to go to!, but who knows. We're in a very safe Tory seat who voted to leave.

wafflyversatile · 12/12/2019 15:43

today is peak staff christmas party so party people would have to vote before work.
