How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

I've just been. No-one else coming or going when I was there, but she said they had been busy. No-one lurking outside trying to intercept me.

applesauce1 · 12/12/2019 14:15

No queue at my very small town polling station. Also. No dogs, much to my disappointment.
Out of about 12 people I saw going in and out, I was the only person not driving.

HundredMilesAnHour · 12/12/2019 14:15

Very quiet at 1.30pm. Someone was just leaving as I arrived. I was the only person in there. Safe Labour seat in inner London. Probably not helped by the rain and that for some reason (I assume financial), it's now in a community centre in a very inconvenient location which isn't near public transport. People really have to go out of their way to vote. It used to be in a sports centre right outside the tube station so was much easier.

Very quiet...me and dh were the only ones there.

Sarcelle · 12/12/2019 14:16

Tory safe seat. Used to be Lib Dem but switched to Tory after coalition. Noticed there are lots of Lib Dem posters up in houses. Haven't seen any Tory ones. The only stuff I have received through the letterbox has been from Lib Dems. Clearly pushing to get back.

The polling station was empty. Just me and one other person! I expect it will be busy later. Lots of commuters who were already enroute to work before polling stations opened.

AveEldon · 12/12/2019 14:16

Someone suggested that it will have been v busy this morning as people may have social/xmas plans after work so voting later not an option

Lllot5 · 12/12/2019 14:17

Me and about three others this morning at 9 ish. Safe Tory seat.

WildRosie · 12/12/2019 14:19

Steady stream of people - mainly older - going towards at 10 a.m. I was only there for a couple of minutes, ninety seconds of which was queueing.

WildRosie · 12/12/2019 14:24

I should add my constituency is Labour, but only since the last election. Before that it was a hitherto safe LibDem seat for several years.

BaolFan · 12/12/2019 14:25

Steady here. Tends to go start and stop - picked up at lunchtime and I suspect it will get busy again after 5.

Labour seat but constituency voted leave, so will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

littlebillie · 12/12/2019 14:27

Busier at 8 am

SureTry · 12/12/2019 14:27

Steady stream of people at 10am, nowhere near as busy as when it was the Brexit vote. Mainly elderly, I was probably the youngest person there, it's a seaside town between Lib Dems and Torys.

TuttiCutie · 12/12/2019 14:29

Rammed busy at 9.30am, I had to queue- usually a very safe labour seat here.

singswithitsfingers · 12/12/2019 14:30

Much busier than usual, with a queue at 8am. But tonight is a big pre Xmas night out, so it may be people are choosing to vote in the morning.

MarySidney · 12/12/2019 14:31

....a Safe Labour seat in inner London. ... very inconvenient location which isn't near public transport.

Surely in inner London everyone lives within walking distance of their polling station? Each polling station must cover a very small area.

PrancerOnParade · 12/12/2019 14:32

Four people leaving as I was going in, no-one inside as far as I could see, then 3 people going in as I left. That's the busiest I've ever seen it as we're in a fairly small area and I usually only see one or two others at the most. I always go during the day though as I figure before and after school/work would be a slightly busier time.

chesterfuckingdraws · 12/12/2019 14:35

We were the only two at ours at 0830.

I've never seen another person in our polling station and we've been at various times over the years.

I hope we just miss the busy times and the rest of the community actually do go and vote.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 12/12/2019 14:36

Really busy here at 11am, semi rural Scotland. Busier than usual apart from indyref.

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 12/12/2019 14:36

Just got back, a steady stream but no queues. (London, safe labour seat)

Having said that, my polling station is a tiny little room so it always seems full even if I'm the only voter in there !

icantbecani · 12/12/2019 14:37

Heaving

iswhois · 12/12/2019 14:39

Empty, but it was mid day.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 14:40

I've just been. There was a lady leaving as I entered and a couple entering as I left.
I had a chat for a few minutes with the ladies at the desks (they normally just grunt at you but the baby was with me Wink) and was the only person in there.

It's always that way, whatever time of day I go.

adviceatthislatestage · 12/12/2019 14:40

Queue of about 20 at 7am. Have never seen that before.

Thumbcat · 12/12/2019 14:41

Busier than I've ever seen it, as was another polling station I passed

josephineisblue · 12/12/2019 14:41

Only 3 in at midday, marginal seat in south London.
