How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

Very quiet when I went in at 12.45, only two of us. And DH says the same when he went at 9am. Very safe Tory seat alas.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/12/2019 13:20

Much busier than usual, according to staff. It's currently Tory but Lab gained a lot of ground in the last election.

thehorseandhisboy · 12/12/2019 13:21

Only me there at 9.15am. Safe Labour seat.

Don't let the reports of long queues put you off voting though.

Eight of us queuing at 7am.

Empty just now. Tory could in theory go back to labour but lib dems have an unhelpfully good candidate. She won't come anywhere near winning but is more than enough to scupper labour.

SnorkMaiden81 · 12/12/2019 13:22

A dozen or so of us queuing to get in at 7am. Safe Tory seat.

Monkeybunkey · 12/12/2019 13:22

Straight in, no queue at 8am, in a safe Tory seat. One guy was just leaving as I went in and a couple came in as I left. Pretty normal for my area to be honest.

DevaDiva · 12/12/2019 13:23

I thought it would be a quiet time but there was a steady stream at 11.30, 2-3 in the queue. The seat has been labour for last 2 years Conservative for several years before that.

Fishlegs · 12/12/2019 13:23

Safe Labour seat here. No queues but a steady stream of people, more than last time I’d say, although maybe people are trying to vote earlier to avoid going out in the dark later.

Apolloanddaphne · 12/12/2019 13:26

@thiscouldbethehill I am in a very marginal seat too. Are you in the east of Scotland by any chance?

LizziesTwin · 12/12/2019 13:28

About 25 people queuing at 9ish. Area where there’s always a high turnout

WhatHaveIFound · 12/12/2019 13:29

I have a postal vote so i haven't been to a polling station in years but i took DD (first time voting) there this morning. There were approx. 30 people at just after 7am and a queue was forming as we left.

We're in a marginal seat so near constant campaigning, even at our local train stations yesterday.

Sirzy · 12/12/2019 13:30

One other person in there when I have just been. We are a very safe labour seat

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 12/12/2019 13:31

Nobody else even in there when I went at 8.20.
The sorting office however have erected a marquee for the Christmas queue which was 30 mins long!

yummytummy · 12/12/2019 13:31

9.45am safe tory seat. only one other lady in polling station. very quiet. thought it would have been busier

icecreamsundae32 · 12/12/2019 13:31

Only 2 other people at 12.30 - safe conservative seat. Husband went at 8.30 and was the only one then too!

36degrees · 12/12/2019 13:32

One other person at 10.45, marginal Tory seat. I usually go in the evening and ask how the turnout has been but didn't bother today as it was still pretty early in the day.

Chemenger · 12/12/2019 13:34

Busier than usual. The car park was a sheet of ice. Both DD and I nearly came a cropper. I feared for the elderly who seemed to be in the majority at 8.45 when we were there. Quite close between Labour and the SNP here.

LizziesTwin · 12/12/2019 13:35

My area had almost 75% turnout at the last GE

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 12/12/2019 13:37

9am. 3 people doing teas and coffees, a vicar, two polling card stealers, then 6 people running the station and me, the only one voting. They said they'd had a run at 8am though and it's only down the road and I can see there's a steady stream of people walking down.

Vinorosso74 · 12/12/2019 13:39

There was a short queue max 5 min wait when I went around 11am. Safe Labour seat. Press were there first thing to get photos of a certain party leader.

Talcott2007 · 12/12/2019 13:40

Very quiet but it's a new polling station location as some building and roads works mean the usual place is currently inaccessible. I was the only person there at about 8am but someone else did arrive as I was leaving.

overtheseagull · 12/12/2019 13:44

Small queue of about five people at 1pm. Safe Tory seat.

GameSetMatch · 12/12/2019 13:44

I just visited my Mum who’s lives across the road from a polling station, it was very quiet really easy to park, i think it’s the bad weather that keeps people indoors.

Butterfly02 · 12/12/2019 13:45

8:30am and only me voting however did bump into a couple of neighbours who were on their way. Live in a village so less voters.
I took dts10 on way to school to show them how to vote and the staff were lovely at explaining their jobs. Hopefully two new voters in the future although one of them thought I should vote for Boris because he has funny hair!
