Anyone there? Reports are sketchy at the moment. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2019/nov/29/london-bridge-incident-police-city

Those brave bystanders!
It’s awful, a few weeks before Christmas the capital will be bouncing with families and people just wanting to enjoy the festivities and there’s scum bags like this 🤬

ManonBlackbeak · 29/11/2019 15:35

And how would you feel if you needed to be somewhere urgently eg to get home to kids? It's ok to be annoyed that some nutter may make it difficult for you to get home.

But your children will get to see you again, unlike the children of victims of incidents like this one..

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 15:37

Also if the station is closed then that has the effect of the streets etc being far more crowded and then consequently the trains being heaving when the station does re-open.

More horrifying though is the fact that apparently people have been circulating pictures and videos on social media and the met have cautioned against it. WTF is wrong with people?

PepePig · 29/11/2019 15:39

Complaining about a road being closed is ridiculous and you need to catch perspective. It's London. There's plenty of other transport options you can take. You know, other buses, trains, tubes, god forbid you could even walk a bit, use a black cab...a delay might be annoying but there's bigger things happening. You'll forget this incident ever happened in a week. Try being one of those families of those who have been affected.

It's also 3pm. There's plenty of time to figure out an alternative route home if you work in the city today.

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 15:45

FGS, one person made a comment about the train station being closed. Everyone else piling in to froth about their disapproval are the ones who need to get some perspective.

TheStaleBiscuitofDoom · 29/11/2019 15:48

Might not be terrorist related No such thing as "terrorist", just murdering arseholes.

They can be murdering arse holes and terrorists too.

TheQueef · 29/11/2019 15:48

Let's hope he's just a lone wolf with MH issues and it's ended.

Jizzle · 29/11/2019 15:49

I stand by my point above. Of course its shit when it happens and if any one has passed their family has my full condolences, but what annoys me though is this incident was essentially over in 2 minutes and the news go crazy hypothesizing and creating a panic as seen on this thread.

This appears to be an isolated attack that started in a nearby premise and spilled out on to the bridge, yet the impact effects thousands of people for hours. Why does London Bridge station, hundreds of metres away, remain closed despite the incident being hours ago now?

roiseandjim · 29/11/2019 15:50

My husband has narrowly missed being at 2 previous London terror attacks. He works at London Bridge and took a personal day today to come home and look after me. Another one missed. It's unbelievable

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 15:53

The train station being closed is a pretty major issue as it’s used by so many people- where will all those people go? The authorities will have to start moving them around somehow otherwise there will be further problems which I’m sure the police really don’t have time to deal with.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 15:54

Why does London Bridge station, hundreds of metres away, remain closed despite the incident being hours ago now?

Surely because the police need to be sure it's an isolated incident? Perhaps they had some intelligence, perhaps they have just learned some. Personally I would rather they were sure & be delayed.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 15:55

Or because from a logistics perspective these things take time.

Newbie1981 · 29/11/2019 15:58

@roiseandjim hardly a near miss.

SaskiaRembrandt · 29/11/2019 16:00

The train station being closed is a pretty major issue as it’s used by so many people- where will all those people go?

Umm .. to another station? My son was at the terrorist attack there two years ago, and that's what he did - walked to the nearest open station and went home. It's not as if London only has the one.

Ninjakittysmellz · 29/11/2019 16:01

Jesus that twitter footage from the bus is horrific. The bang as the gun goes off. I can’t imagine the fear of watching that or being there. Some incredibly brave police officers who run towards a situation that your every instinct must want you to run away from Flowers

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2019 16:05

No way that guy just had a knife. Police don't jump back like that officer did, assume the stance, and shoot a restrained unarmed man at point blank range, he either had a gun or he had a bomb. You also hear a man shouting are you going to set off a bomb.

Suspect that's why they are calling it a terrorist incident.

Tetraread · 29/11/2019 16:05

The train station being closed is annoying. Its scary if you're there and can't get home, it means the nearby streets and the trains when they reopen will be heaving; which is dangerous in the circumstances. It's okay to say from elsewhere that's it's heartless and selfish, but unless you've been in the same position you shouldn't judge.

TheQueef · 29/11/2019 16:10

Just in case, Hooray Twitter link shows the man being shot.

He'd already injured the public and wasn't submitting, no other choice but shoot him. Imo (untrained)

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:10

I used to have to get the tube from Oxford Circus home, at this time of year the station would be temporarily closed for overcrowding every single evening. Often quicker to walk to Green Park rather than wait.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:14

I think it's fantastic & incredibly brave that members of the public intervened,

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 29/11/2019 16:20

Its strange to me as to why its London Bridge again ?
Probably a coincidence but there have been 3 attacks on or near there now

My thoughts are with the victims and hope that none have fatal injuries.

YouSawThePlans · 29/11/2019 16:24

Bluntness there are some tweets saying there were reports of a bomb so I suspect you're correct and that's why they shot in the way they did.

vikkimoog · 29/11/2019 16:25

confirmed terrorism incident and the suspect was killed

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/11/2019 16:25

Police say suspect shot dead and it is an terrorist attack.

vikkimoog · 29/11/2019 16:25

he had a fake bomb vest
