Anyone there? Reports are sketchy at the moment. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2019/nov/29/london-bridge-incident-police-city

I totally get the annoyance about the travel disruption.
london bridge is a major hub and transports xxxk people every day. especially towards kent and sussex commuter belt.

I can be both annoyed to be stuck in london on a friday evening and feel for the poor people involved in the incident.

spacepyramid · 29/11/2019 16:30

London Bridge station looks like it will be closed for a few hours more which is pretty annoying

My heart bleeds for you. Think instead about the people injured and the bravery of the police and civilians who intervened. Who gives a shit if the station is closed?

spacepyramid · 29/11/2019 16:32

Jesus that twitter footage from the bus is horrific. The bang as the gun goes off. I can’t imagine the fear of watching that or being there.

I can't imagine them choosing to video it and put it on social media. I accidentally saw it thinking it was a news video until it was too late.

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 16:34

@SaskiaRembrandt Do you actually know London? Hmm millions of people use LB. they’re not all just going to pop along to the next station

It’s not the Most important thing, but it is of course another problem for the police and authorities to deal with. I would’ve thought that’s obvious

AuntieMarys · 29/11/2019 16:36

One of my relatives has informed us just now she is cancelling her day out in London next week. And that we shouldn't visit there either.
She got short shrift.

Scarscar · 29/11/2019 16:36

There's another video on Twitter from a different angle to the bus one.
They are wrestling with him on the floor then a police officer pulls the guy wrestling away and they all move back. The man on the ground then moves, looking like he's going to get up, and then the police officer shoots him.

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2019 16:36

God he was wearing a fake bomb, that's why they shot him. That's suicide by cop of ever I've seen it. They will always shoot when they see a bomb, no way they can take the chance to wait and see if it's real if the person is threatening to detonate.

You can see the officer as he jumps back and assumes the stance he's in a major sense of urgency and then takes him out immediately

GU24Mum · 29/11/2019 16:39

Apparently there was some sort of attack in the building behind : we work in sight of it and some people saw the Mann who was shot coming out with two knives .... but also two people being stretchered out by paramedics a bit later.

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 16:39

It was a fake bomb.

But seriously why in the name of God are people videoing the incident and sharing on social media? Hideous.

Well, lots of people. If this is terrorism, that's exactly why it's happened there, and not a small high street in the back-end of nowhere. Terrorist attacks often involve transport nexuses, precisely in order to disrupt as many people's lives as possible.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 29/11/2019 16:41

My DD lives on Guys university campus and she is right on the south side of the bridge. Luckily she was at home. The campus is on lockdown. She still wants to go out tonight. She's 19 and invincible. I want her to stay in bed, under the duvet.

It's terrifying for the people involved. Such bravery of the members of public, if that is indeed what happened.

SaskiaRembrandt · 29/11/2019 16:41

Do you actually know London? hmm millions of people use LB. they’re not all just going to pop along to the next station

Yes, I do thank you. And I know there are other stations, I've used them. And as I said in my post, my son was in the same situation after the 2017 terrorist attack in that area, he managed to find another way home. It took longer but he got there, and he didn't whine about it.

I find it very hard to muster up any sympathy for anyone complaining about a delayed journey when people are fighting for their lives in hospital. You may differ, that is your prerogative.

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 16:42

It looks like the man wrestling him was a member of the public. A witness said the terrorist pulled aside his coat to reveal the belt- that’s when the police pull the man off and shoot the suspect.

Awful stuff

I’m conflicted on the video sharing. It’s pretty good that these things are now done with full transparency

TheQueef · 29/11/2019 16:44

Those members of the public though..!
Piling on top of a bomb vest.

👏

theflushedzebra · 29/11/2019 16:44

Blown away by the bravery of the Londoners who restrained him Shock

Bluntness100 · 29/11/2019 16:45

I also don't have an issue with someone who is in a place of safety videoing it and sharing. I feel very differently if someone is involved in a sort of tragedy like a car crash etc, but when it comes to this sort of thing, in fact anything criminal, I've no sympathy. Video away.

theflushedzebra · 29/11/2019 16:45

not a good use of the phrase blown away there. Lesson: thin before posting!

theflushedzebra · 29/11/2019 16:46

*think!

And learn to type & proof read..

BlaueLagune · 29/11/2019 16:47

If someone is desperate to get home to their child or home after a difficult week at work, I have every sympathy. You can have sympathy for more than one class/group of people.

Blown away by the bravery of the Londoners who restrained him yes.

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 16:48

Actually the met have tweeted asking people to not share video etc.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:48

it is of course another problem for the police and authorities to deal with

But surely the police & authorities are aware of the closure & it's likely part of protocol.

I remember my tube to work on 7/7 terminated before my usual stop & we had to all get off the tube. I had to walk about 40 mins to work & what I found scary & confusing was my network then went down, so couldn't get in touch with anyone & at that point no one knew what was going on. Work hired cabs for us to all go home, my siblings & DH & friends in other parts of London just walked home as so much of public transport was closed. My overwhelming feeling wasn't one of inconvenience.

frostedviolets · 29/11/2019 16:48

I have watched the footage and I have a question.

The guy that runs with the alleged knife.

That's been used to stab people.

Why is the knife CLEAN

Does no one else find this odd?!
He's stabbed at least five people but the knife is clean??

Devereux1 · 29/11/2019 16:50

Whilst we are not allowed to talk openly about the beliefs of people who wish to kill others who don't share their beliefs, this will continue.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:51

Maybe he more then one?

Elderflower14 · 29/11/2019 16:51

@frostedviolets he may have been carrying more than one knife???
