Anyone there? Reports are sketchy at the moment. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2019/nov/29/london-bridge-incident-police-city

OP posts:
ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:52

had more

vikkimoog · 29/11/2019 16:52

there were 2 of them: one shot dead and one detained

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 16:52

You can’t really see its clean, particularly? You can just see it’s not obviously blood stained. He had 2 knives anyway.

@ploopsie- well obviously.

vikkimoog · 29/11/2019 16:52

sorry, thought you meant more then one terrorist

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:53

@Passthecherrycoke well obviously what?

Andypromqueen · 29/11/2019 16:53

Wow - that video is shocking. The police are no nonsense with this shit now aren’t they? - good for them, I hope lots of would-be terrorists watch this. Thank god he was tackled to the ground - I hope those people are recognised and rewarded.

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 16:54

Sorry, that was in response to this post

“But surely the police & authorities are aware of the closure & it's likely part of protocol.”

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:56

I'm conflicted about the video, saw it by accident and I don't like videos of people in accidents & apparently there is footage of victims. However in this case it's a pretty good deterrent.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 29/11/2019 16:56

That group of people wrestling the weapons off him and pinning him down until the police were in position.. what unbelievable heroes.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 29/11/2019 16:56

And how would you feel if you needed to be somewhere urgently eg to get home to kids? It's ok to be annoyed that some nutter may make it difficult for you to get home.

I'd find an alternative route, which in London is usually doable and not whinge when people are possibly dead. I live in London.

Scarscar · 29/11/2019 16:57

Feel for the police officer who had to shoot him. His life has been changed forever today.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 16:58

That's why I got confused....

It’s not the Most important thing, but it is of course another problem for the police and authorities to deal with. I would’ve thought that’s obvious

But surely the police & authorities are aware of the closure & it's likely part of protocol.

well obviously.

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 16:58

Is it clear now then? Sorry -I should’ve quoted.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 17:02

No, seems pretty circular to me.

The police have likely decided to close certain areas & stations due to possible risk but it's a problem for them?

AdoptedBumpkin · 29/11/2019 17:03

Hopefully nobody else has been hurt. These things are always disturbing.

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 17:08

Just because it’s part of their planning process doesn’t mean it’s easy for them does it? It presents huge risk- secondary attack, over crowding, Crushing and so on

I just didn’t think your point really added anything, it’s obvious they plan for such things !

Jizzle · 29/11/2019 17:09

Yes, I do thank you. And I know there are other stations, I've used them. And as I said in my post, my son was in the same situation after the 2017 terrorist attack in that area, he managed to find another way home. It took longer but he got there, and he didn't whine about it.

You clearly don't understand how the trains in London work then. This isn't a case of walking 5 minutes to the next underground station, LB is a terminal station. I get my train there, and the next stop is over 40 miles away, that's not something you can walk!

SarahTancredi · 29/11/2019 17:11

Feel for the police officer who had to shoot him. His life has been changed forever today

I.was just coming on.to.say similar..

I'm.sure despite there being no choice he womt be going home unscathed. I hope he has people round him.

Big thank you to all the emergency services out dealing with the aftermath.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/11/2019 17:13

One of my relatives has informed us just now she is cancelling her day out in London next week. And that we shouldn't visit there either.

Oh for goodness sake. And there will also be hundreds of drama llamas sending their friends Facebook I’m Safe messages even if they live 50 miles from London and rarely visit.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 17:14

I don't think yours did!

The Police & authorities are highly trained to deal with these incidents & overcrowding in general. I think in terms of dealing with armed terrorists, potential bombs, injured civilians, shooting terrorists etc concerns re a station closure & the associated displacement is probably quite low on the list.

Maybe get yourself a cherry coke 😉

Passthecherrycoke · 29/11/2019 17:14

Jizzle just walk home to Kent and so don’t moan! It will only take a little longer surely?

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 17:15

From what I can see trains are still running through but not stopping. So e.g. if you can walk to Cannon Street you can get a train towards Sevenoaks/Tonbridge etc, similarly if you can make it to Waterloo east or Charing Cross. Green park is walkable from London Bridge so you can get to Charing from there.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 29/11/2019 17:19

Officers are AR. They are trained to shoot to kill like a soldier in the army. Full counselling is given should he or she need it.

Fucking amazing. Well done them.

AlternativePerspective · 29/11/2019 17:22

Maybe rather than sniping at each other this thread could be used to help those who may not be aware of the best ways to get home if they’ve never had to do so before?

I’m not entirely sure what trains run from London Bridge other than the ones running to my area, but there wil be others who are.

If you’re going towards Kent then you should be able to find a way to Cannon Street/Charing cross/Waterloo east depending on where in the city you’re coming from and the trains to Orpington/Sevenoaks/Tonbridge/Tonbridge wells and Hastings run from those.

If you’re going towards margate/ramsgate then your best bet is to go to Victoria and if necessary change at Bromley south.
