The one song you love by a band you generally dislike

As the title suggests! Are there any bands that you really can't stand most of the time, but they have just one song that you inexplicably love?

Most of mine involve dull, landfill indie bands:

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
El Salvador by Athlete
Golden Touch by Razorlight
Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I was going to add something by U2 but then realised that I like at least five of their songs, so evidently I don't hate them as much as I thought I did Grin

One hit wonders don't count, btw!

A bit more middle of the road than your choices but
I wish it would rain down by Phil Collins it's his only good song in my eyes!
Also don't like Elton John's music except for Step into Christmas!

Clocks - Coldplay

RadishesAndLentils · 07/11/2019 17:49

Devil Woman by Cliff Richard is a great song. The rest of his catalogue, not so much.

SnorkMaiden81 · 07/11/2019 17:50

Shine On You Crazy Diamond- Pink Floyd.

EugenesAxe · 07/11/2019 17:53

Haha! Came on to say ‘Clocks’ too.

One Pink Floyd song, really? 😕 I am biased though.

MsRinky · 07/11/2019 17:58

Karma Police by Radiohead. Rest of it unlistenable dross, and god knows I've tried, allegedly seminal Glastonbury performances and all.

Jbck · 07/11/2019 18:01

Queen - Dont stop me now
Coldplay - Fix you

ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 07/11/2019 18:03

Singer rather than band, but 'Rock DJ' by Robbie Williams.

My sister and I have completely opposing musical tastes and this is the only song we have ever both liked. I've absolutely no interest in any other Robbie Williams output.

Electrocute1980 · 07/11/2019 18:09

Can't stand Coldplay but I love their song Fix You.

BreakWindandFire · 07/11/2019 18:09

Money for Nothing - Dire Straits.

TenaciousP · 07/11/2019 18:09

Coldplay - Yellow

Can't stand them otherwise!

crustycrab · 07/11/2019 18:11

So weird because mine is also Coldplay. Viva la Vida

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 07/11/2019 18:13

It looks like, between us all, we're a complete Coldplay fan... I only like one song they did back before they got big, called Such a Rush. After that, it's all been deplorable.

Top of the World - The Carpenters

NationMcKinley · 07/11/2019 18:14

Stars by Simply Red - literally cannot stand anything else by Mick Hucknell to the point I get an irrational rage and have to turn the radio over.

Pinkarsedfly · 07/11/2019 18:15

Desperado by The Eagles.
Whole Again by Atomic Kitten Blush
Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits.
Keep on Movin’ by Five.

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 07/11/2019 18:20

The weddingy type one by Ed Sheeran. Can’t stand him or any of his other stuff.

TheMarschallin · 07/11/2019 18:23

Drops of Jupiter by Train.

It’s ace!

TheCanterburyWhales · 07/11/2019 18:24

Mine is also Coldplay. I'd generally rather sit in silence for the rest of my life than listen to lift/supermarket muzak (which is what Coldplay seems to be) but I bloody love Paradise.

TheDuckSaysMoo · 07/11/2019 18:27

Another coldplay here: viva la vida

Eminybob · 07/11/2019 18:35

Another Coldplay one - Something Just Like This, which they did with Chainsmokers.

icelollycraving · 07/11/2019 18:41

Mysterious Girl. I like the cheese but the orange one is a wanker. I feel conflicted every time I hear it and sing along Grin

yummytummy · 07/11/2019 18:43

i really really like drag me down and couldn't believe it was one direction!

Cocolapew · 07/11/2019 18:47

Angel Of Harlem by U2
Daniel by Elton John
Run by Snow Patrol
Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen

Destinysdaughter · 07/11/2019 18:48

Ooh what a brilliant idea for a thread! I have loads but this is one I'd love to share. Not a fan of Ed Sheeran generally, but I was hooked on the ice skating in the 2018 Winter Olympics and after watching this performance, fell in love with this song...
