The one song you love by a band you generally dislike

As the title suggests! Are there any bands that you really can't stand most of the time, but they have just one song that you inexplicably love?

Most of mine involve dull, landfill indie bands:

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
El Salvador by Athlete
Golden Touch by Razorlight
Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I was going to add something by U2 but then realised that I like at least five of their songs, so evidently I don't hate them as much as I thought I did Grin

One hit wonders don't count, btw!

Motorcycle Emptiness - Can't stand the Manic street Preachers otherwise!

Cherryblossomandcornflakes · 07/11/2019 18:52

Nothing else matters - Metallica and Great Gig in the sky - Pink Floyd

Ohhh... I love the Manics. And Radiohead. But I'm finding myself nodding at several of the suggestions here. It does seem to have solved the mystery of Coldplay's baffling longevity, though - nobody actually likes them, but everybody likes a different one of their songs!

I also find listening to Coldplay the aural version of watching paint dry, but I find this song of theirs so life affirming and upbeat, I love it! ( bloody weird video tho...)

Shockers · 07/11/2019 18:55

My U2 track is Angel of Harlem too.

Whitetulipofpeace · 07/11/2019 18:55

I can't stand Oasis, but I love the song stop crying your heart out. I heard it at the end of the butterfly effect and loved it.

Fakeflowersaremynewnormal · 07/11/2019 18:56

Crazy Horses by The Osmonds

Frazzlesandacoke · 07/11/2019 19:00

Where is the love? By Black Eyed Peas
Boys of Summer by Don Henley

Destinysdaughter · 07/11/2019 19:03

Crazy Horses is brilliant!
Can't stand Phil Collins but have always lived In the Air Tonight, an eighties classic!

MargotMoon · 07/11/2019 19:03

Don't by Ed Sheeran but ONLY the Rick Ross remix with all the fucks left in

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 07/11/2019 19:04

Not sure whether to trash any cool credentials I might have had, but I do like Tiger Feet by Mud...

I cannot stand Coldplay, they are too formulaic, MOR for words, but I really liked the song they did with The Chainsmokers. Probably because I really like The Chainsmokers.

I also really like World of Our Own, despite detesting Westlife Blush

Destinysdaughter · 07/11/2019 19:04

*loved not lived!

nordstrom · 07/11/2019 19:05

Ha I too am adding 'yellow' Coldplay.

Besom · 07/11/2019 19:06

West End Girls

nordstrom · 07/11/2019 19:06

Oh and Oasis 'don't look back in anger' as it reminds me of one awesome party 😬.

Peakypolly · 07/11/2019 19:12

‘Crazy Horses’ by The Osmonds Blush
And ‘Blinded by Your Grace’ Stormzy. I can’t say I hate his stuff it just isn’t usually on my radar, yet I love, love, love this one.

Elledouble · 07/11/2019 19:12

Agree with Golden Touch by Razorlight

Caught By The Fuzz by Supergrass - I just despise everything else they’ve ever done!

I love Radiohead, Pink Floyd and the Manics Blush

Eastie77 · 07/11/2019 19:17

This I Promise You - N'Sync. Their only decent song (only recently found out it was was written by Richard Marx). I don't hate them as such but I was always team Backstreet BoysGrin

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 07/11/2019 19:19

Goodbye Ruby Tuesday by the Stones. Don’t like anything else of theirs, but love that one.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 07/11/2019 19:46

I also randomly love Wonderman by Tinie Tempeh (sp?), even though that kind of music is very much not my thing.

I like Love Yourself. It’s a good pop song to sing along to in the car. But I’m neither a fan of Ed Sheeran nor Justin Beiber. Do I get double points? Grin

ginghambox · 07/11/2019 20:02

Two Minutes Silence - John Lennon & Yoko Ono.

lljkk · 07/11/2019 20:12

I find Stevie Nix's voice repellent & so by association almost all things Fleetwood Mac; can't turn off fast enough.

Except The Chain is a mighty fine song. Confused

Speaking of 'not on my radar'... I quite liked a David Soul song I heard on radio yesterday. So I've been listening to his stuff today. He tried every genre going!!

LemonScentedStickyBat · 07/11/2019 20:20

Feel, Robbie Williams
