The one song you love by a band you generally dislike

As the title suggests! Are there any bands that you really can't stand most of the time, but they have just one song that you inexplicably love?

Most of mine involve dull, landfill indie bands:

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
El Salvador by Athlete
Golden Touch by Razorlight
Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I was going to add something by U2 but then realised that I like at least five of their songs, so evidently I don't hate them as much as I thought I did

One hit wonders don't count, btw!

Viva la Vida by Coldplay. Genius. But by god they are boring, miserable shits and Chris Martin is a whiny bastard.

Oh absolutely!!
When this happens and a band makes a generic record me and DH usually say something like 'Did they have a tax demand come in?'
It is usually so disappointing when it happens.
For me it was songs, off the top of my head, like ' We built this city' by Starship,'Crazy, Crazy nights' by Kiss The album 'Strays' by Jane's Addiction, Faith No More with 'Easy like Sunday morning', and 'Might as well get juiced' by the Rolling Stones as well as Bruce Springsteen's latest dirge!

Happy Christmas War is Over, nothing else by Lennon or the Beatles for that matter

Nooooo! Already when I was about 7 or 8 I used to hear that song in the shops at Christmas and I'd feel a sort of primeval memory of the guilt of my ancestors. I felt completely desperate whenever I heard it. It was like at Christmas when your miserable uncle sits in the corner whinging about the shipyards and the commercialism of Christmas and how people never help each other out any more while munching on the turkey your auntie was defrosting in the bath last night at 10 o'clock while she peeled tatties.

I'm not a heavy metal fan but the Sound of Silence cover by disturbed is powerful and unexpected.

@BabloHoney I loathe Toploader but LOVE Achilles Heel. It reminds me of sitting outside at teenage parties smoking weed in a slip dress .

Can't stand Marilyn Manson, but I do like his sinister cover of Tainted Love.

I also can't stand Aranna Grande - musically and as a person, but I will make an exception for No Tears left to Cry.

The Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence is terrific. Paul Simon is a fan, I believe.

[Janet voice] Fun fact. More Than Words is actually a song about a man trying to persuade someone to give him a blowjob.

And the less said about Semisonic's Secret Smile the better...

Leave Right Now -will young-love that song but he hasn't done anything else I can tolerate.

I hate absolutely everything else James Blunt has ever had anything to do with, but for some reason Heart to heart really works for me (I'm not saying it's good, just that I like it).
I'm really struggling to think of anyone else where I like 1 song, generally it's either none or at least 2 or 3.

Blaze of glory by Jon Bon Jovi. Don't like any of his other stuff. Love this one tbough.

Ed Sheehan, I honestly can't think of any of his songs that so anything for me. Most overrated singer ever.

I can’t stand a Elton John . I walked out of the Wembley gig in 1975 along with thousands of others because was crap , but I love Benny And The Jets .

I've always thought Elton John is massively overrated.

Bernie Taupin is the talent imo not EJ.

An absolutely fantastic song.
I know Smiths fans often don’t rate this as their best song. Don’t really like anything else but this is in my top 10

Creep by Radiohead. Find everything else dull and covers I’ve heard are just as good

SwedishEdith I'm sure that would be an interesting article if I could only work out what point he was trying to make. Is he saying Coldplay are good because they work with lots of hip collaborators and are a bit earnest? Or because they used to wear brown cords?

EJ is an amazingly talented pianist. Classical, rock, blues, honky-tonk he has an incredible repertoire of styles, it makes me laugh when people come out with crap like this!
