What do you serve with cottage pie?

Love homemade cottage pie! Thinking I should make it this week but not sure what to serve with it. I usually do a pile of mixed veg. But just wondering what everyone else does? I know it doesn't really need anything extra.

I'd just have a green vegetable and maybe some carrots. I love cottage pie too!

Lollypop701 · 19/10/2019 16:05

Extra veg and fresh crusty bread and butter

Mintypea5 · 19/10/2019 16:06

My mum serves hers with crusty bread and butter or sometimes my stepdad makes garlic bread to have with it.

Otherwise just veggies

Green veg usually.

Ohyesiam · 19/10/2019 16:08

Peas and carrots

Longdistance · 19/10/2019 16:08

Broccoli, green beans and cauliflower.

Fizzypoo · 19/10/2019 16:08

Carrots and broccoli plus gravy. My dp thinks I'm strange for liking (bisto) gravy with cottage pie.

comfysocks · 19/10/2019 16:09

Mine has peas and carrots in it so I don't serve anything else

ILikePaperHats · 19/10/2019 16:09

OneShotFinch · 19/10/2019 16:09

Broccoli or green beans is my favourite side with Cottage Pie 🥦

missnevermind · 19/10/2019 16:10

Mum used to do it with Chips, extra carrots peas.

ILikePaperHats · 19/10/2019 16:10

Got to be peas or broccoli. Carrots should already be in it if you've made it right!

Anniecott · 19/10/2019 16:10

Peas, sweet corn, homemade Yorkies and gravey. One of our family favourites. X

suze28 · 19/10/2019 16:10

Always peas! Roasted broccoli would work well too

wildhairdontcare · 19/10/2019 16:10

Broccoli, peas and green beans.

woodymiller · 19/10/2019 16:12

Baked beans

fatulousatforty · 19/10/2019 16:12

Beetroot and crusty bread

which1 · 19/10/2019 16:12

I put peas, carrots and onions in terms of vegetables in mine so I just eat it as is.
If I wanted to do more vegetables, I'd prbably chop them up and put them in the pie also. You could chop up green beans really small and put them in for example.

Legomadx2 · 19/10/2019 16:13

peas or broccoli and carrots

maybe leeks

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/10/2019 16:15

The idea of baked beans with it makes me feel very sick.

Savoy cabbage here, or frozen peas.

StealthPolarBear · 19/10/2019 16:17

Usually Yorkshire puddings, carrots and broccoli
