What do you serve with cottage pie?

Love homemade cottage pie! Thinking I should make it this week but not sure what to serve with it. I usually do a pile of mixed veg. But just wondering what everyone else does? I know it doesn't really need anything extra.

Either a big pile of broccoli OR baked beans.

Petit pois
Tomato ketchup

Normally just green veg & gravy.

Buttered and black peppered cabbage. I want this now!

Baked beans, definitely.

Roast carrots, some green veg, extra gravy

Extra vegetables and Yorkshire puddings

I put onions, peas and carrots into my meaty pies and serve with broccoli or cabbage and tonnes of proper gravy

Cauliflower cheese

Mixed green vegetables, or real King Edward chips if I'm feeling very sorry for myself.

Buttered sweetheart cabbage.

Red wine.
Mmmmmmmm.

MiL has it regularly just on it's own. Can't say I've ever had it and couldn't say more than "why bother?"

Mine already has tonnes of veg in it, so just some green beans on the side.

Baked beans. Brown sauce.

Am I the only person left who only has Yorkshire puddings with roast beef? Also, did people have YP with so many things before you could get them ready made?

See I can't imagine baked beans with it, but then I hardly ever have baked beans unless it's a cooked breakfast.

To whoever said it's a self contained meal, I know that, but I love variety.

The Yorkie question, can't say I have them other than every Sunday (with any meat 😂) but if I do buy ready made ones husband I and I have been known to scoff the lot on a evening. 🙈 so we don't tend to have them in 😂

Cottage pie is my favourite home made food.

I like Carrots with mine (in pie too)! Also green beans or Broccoli.Lashings of gravy and for DS (always hungry)! a nice jacket potato too!

I do onions, carrots and peas in mine but serve with broccoli, green beans, mini Yorkshire puds and gravy 😋

Root veg goes in it, green veggies on the side, cheesey leeks on top!
