We already have a giant spider web and spider, a ghost and a wooden pumpkin in the garden and some stuff indoors. We’re going pumpkin/ apple picking on Saturday and do some more decorating after.

About a third of the village has hallowe’en stuff up, most people will do this weekend and of course there are some who don’t, but that’s the minority

Never used to but have gained a few bits now and 8 year old loves it so might do it this weekend.

Silvercatowner · 10/10/2019 20:19

Oh lord - wtf are 'halloween decs'?

Every supermarket has an aisle of them. Home Bargains is an explosion of plastic tat. Take your pick from life sized skeletons, banners, hanging spiders, ghost shaped tealight holders and what ever other plastic and non-recyclable tat the retailers can convince mugs to buy.

At least a traditional pumpkin or turnip can be composted.

Ginfordinner · 10/10/2019 20:23

In the past if DD had a Halloween party they went up on 31st October and down on 1st November. Now she she is at university, the answer is we don't "do" haloween any more.

LoonyLunaLoo · 10/10/2019 20:25

There’s a couple of cobwebs above the boiler if that counts...

Steamfan · 10/10/2019 20:27

Never

FrappeLatte · 10/10/2019 20:27

plastic and non-recyclable tat

Yep! We don’t.

Well I have a bunch of halloween decorations that I put up and down every year like the Christmas decorations. Alongside the pumpkin carving. They range from homemade black paper outputs that I put on the window with orange behind to glass lanterns up the garden path a giant rope spider web in the garden. This year I'm hoping to make a life size cocoons person to go with that. I'll put them up about a week to 10 days before sometimes 2 weeks.

AutumnStory · 10/10/2019 20:46

yesterday :). this is the first year my DDs are actually excited and love the house being decorated.

AudTheDeepMinded · 10/10/2019 20:48

We don't, load of commercialised clap trap. And don't get me started on the supermarket dress up outfits. But as others have said, we have year-round cobwebs au naturel in our house.

Babyg1995 · 10/10/2019 20:49

A week before we have loads Grin

lazylinguist · 10/10/2019 20:51

We carve pumpkins and put them outside on the day. That's it.

soupmaker · 10/10/2019 20:52

We have two sparkly black skeletons which get dragged out the wardrobe and put up on 31 October at the door so that the kids who are guising know we are up for it. Do a pumpkin too on the day. That's it. Nothing else.

tanmomusa1 · 10/10/2019 20:53

2 weeks ago, but we live in the US so that's fairly normal! I love it so much fun

converseandjeans · 10/10/2019 20:54

We don't 🥺 🎃

AudTheDeepMinded · 10/10/2019 20:54

We do carve a pumpkin or two (not total killjoys). They tend to be out a day or two beforehand, and then stay out til they start to collapse usually!

hopeishere · 10/10/2019 20:56

We will probably do them the day before and take them down the day after.

Like pp we have a box we use every year.
