Kirby?

DS1 swore blind for two years that his friend’s name was Tennis Love.

It’s Stanislaw.

TwatCat · 29/09/2019 21:06

My DD had a Cool (Cole) and a Funky (Frankie) in her class. We also had a customer at work called Fucker, I can't remember how it was spelt but that's how she pronounced it.

This thread has reminded me that when I was 6ish, I was disappointed to learn my new swimming teacher wasn't, in fact, called 'Bovril', but was an 'Avril'

@Dragonssmile, my ds2 is called Sam. My ds1 doesn't have any 's' sounds, he tends to replace them with an 'h' . Ds2 is called ham by ds1. It's starting to stick. Poor ds2 is now often called ham or hammy by everyone!

DN “ I have a new cousin , his name is Ashley “
My sister “.?? “
DN

“Actually ( Ashley) his name is James . “

Ah now I understand !

MyMushroomsInATimeSlip · 29/09/2019 21:38

These stories are so funny and show the possibility that Kwerky is called something entirely different
Will have to remember to give a Kwerky update...

When shopping I often hear a mum calling a toddler "Patsy" The girl in question is adorable with big brown hair. Totally fits the name.

Windydaysuponus · 29/09/2019 21:57

Ds is adamant his teacher's new dd is Virus.
It's Iris!!

Pleasegodgotosleep · 29/09/2019 22:00

My lg (3) adores our next door neighbour's youngest boy who is in her nursery class. She calls him Fidley and his older brothers Fidley boys. His name is Finlay 😂.

AgnesNutterWitch · 29/09/2019 22:03

*When DS2 started school he insisted there was a boy in his class called Arn but pronounced with a really long 'r' sound so like Arrr'n.

It turned out was Aaron and DS was unintentionally (and badly) copying his Reception teacher's Belfast accent.*

@Venger I was so confused reading this!! Grin How would you say Aaron, like it rhymes with Karen or like Baron or like something else?

dontletmedowngently · 29/09/2019 22:11

DS had a friend at nursery who he was adamant was called Wah Wah. Took me months to work out that his name was Noah!

PancakeAndKeith · 29/09/2019 22:16

🙋‍♂️

ChameleonCircuit · 29/09/2019 22:19

DD had a friend called Sharjah. Her name was actually Charlotte. 😆

MarjorieFrangipani · 29/09/2019 22:22

We relocated up north, DD (then 4) went to pre-school with a child she insisted was called Pear-j. it sounded like she was saying pair with j sound on the end.
Kept asking her to say it again, which she did, the same each time, only getting more cross that I didn't know this name, but each time it came out as 'It's Pear-J!'
Took me a while to realise that she was saying just that word in the (new to us) local accent and that 'Paige' was in fact her name. Grin

MollySilkNose · 29/09/2019 22:23

My ds came home from preschool saying he'd been playing with Bogey. Turns out the kid's name was Bhodi.

milliefiori · 29/09/2019 22:29

Could it be Gregory? Or Giorgi?

Maseandmum · 29/09/2019 22:32

DS has a friend called ‘Beige’, at first I thought it was Paige..turns out her name was Rose. God knows how he got Beige from that

AnnieAnt · 29/09/2019 22:33

This reminds me of a number of conversations with DD when she was at nursery and adamant that one of the boys was called Wriggly. Which she felt was absolutely right as he wouldn't sit still on the carpet.

When she was in Y1, he joined her school and she finally accepted he was called Ridley.

AlanThePig · 29/09/2019 23:25

Ds knew a Lewis Loo at school.

We'll, he knew a Lewis, Lewis Loo was the company name of the portable toilet belonging to the school builders that was at the back of the yard.
Easily confused that boy.
