It's Kirky. Mum's a Corrie fan

TheApprentice · 29/09/2019 20:11

Reminds me of a reception class I had many years ago. The mum of a new start said her son told her there was a child in the class called Rope. I was puzzled for a while as we certainly didnt have a child with that name or anything like it. Eventually I realised he was referring to a little boy named "Ty".

Ds was adamant his friend at nursery was Fizz like in the Tweenies. Turns out it was Faiz 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️

TERFisNotAnInsult · 29/09/2019 20:14

My daughter told us her best friend was Stutti Puff.

We kept questioning it but she was adamant. Stutti. Puff.

Turns out she was Stephanie.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 29/09/2019 20:16

My DD played with Trevor at nursery.

I tried inviting Trevor to her birthday party, along with the other children.

Turned out she’d been playing with treasure...

I had two friends at primary school. One was Bebbalee and the other was Pennapee. Obviously they were Beverley and Penelope but I couldn't pronounce those Grin.

Another vote for Bertie here.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/09/2019 20:36

If any of the dses ever make me a grandmother, I may insist on Stutti Puff for the first granddaughter, @TERFisNotAnInsult!

@Fookinwot I remember that thread! Couldn't believe it when she posted the screenshot of the name!!

FlamedToACrisp · 29/09/2019 20:44

My primary teacher Mum had a boy in her class who said his new baby brother's name was... Spot.

"Is he a puppy?" she asked.
"No! He's a baby boy!"

The next day he said, "I was wrong. He isn't called Spot. He's called Mark."

Windydaysuponus · 29/09/2019 20:46

Ds was known as Oonie by his bff for years.
His name is actually Jordan!!
Will say Curtis op..

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 29/09/2019 20:46

TwatCat · 29/09/2019 20:48

Kirk?

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2019 20:52

This reminds me of when my sister’s teacher went off on mat leave fee. They were in about Y1. She came to visit the class with the baby one day and DSis was very excited about this at the end of the day.

Is it a boy or s girl? DM asked her
DSis ran back into her classroom, and cane back to announce “I don’t know, but it’s called Timothy”.

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/09/2019 20:55

DS had a play leader called Tuna (Oona) and his friend was Manley (Stanley)

Highlandcathedral · 29/09/2019 20:56

These are making me laugh out loud. There was a child in my son’s class called Stuart. I heard another boy run up to his mum in the playground one day as she collected her daughter (Stuart was off poorly) and loudly ask her where was Stupid today!

DS had a girl in his class he was sure was called Porch. It was Portia.

rededucator · 29/09/2019 20:56

Bertie?

miagerbies · 29/09/2019 20:58

Kirk? Kirky?

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2019 20:58

Dad has another child in her class with the same first babe as her. She once cane home with an invitation addressed to “Amycee”. (Amy C).

TERFisNotAnInsult · 29/09/2019 20:58

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

I was quite disappointed when I realised. I'd grown fond of Stutti Grin

Straycatstrut · 29/09/2019 21:01

@BikeRunSki

Haha! In the second half of Y1, DS teacher was heavily pregnant. She came in at the start of Y2 with baby and I asked "Ooo, did she have a girl or boy"... he goes "She's called Alexander!" I was like "AlexanDRA?
or Alexa? or is he a boy?" He had no idea Grin

TwatCat · 29/09/2019 21:02

DS had a friend with the surname Anchovies (Anthony). I think he must've heard the word anchovy from spongebob squarepants as we don't eat anchovies in our house. But this kid was only ever referred to as "Firstname Anchovies" for years.

Clangus00 · 29/09/2019 21:02

Aww @FlamedToACrisp that’s actually adorable! It makes sense too. Love it.

Ethelswith · 29/09/2019 21:02

Gwrgi?

(Ancient Welsh/Arthurian name)

Kirk/Kirky perhaps more likely
