Kennedy is a family name which several boys have in their name. Except one four year old who will tell you his middle name is Kidney.

My sister was scared of a little boy at nursery because she thought his surname was “Frighten”, which in her mind meant that he was a monster or something Grin (it was Creighton)

TateWorm · 30/09/2019 00:24

Maybe Jorge?

When DS started Reception he told me all about his friend "River" and how pretty she was and how funny.

So I spent a good 6 months saying hi to her "hi River" whenever we passed her and her mum in the playground.

It was coming up to DS 5th birthday. We'd invited a few classmates to his party but I hadn't seen River as she'd been off ill. Day before party we bump into River and her mum in the shop.

Me (after saying hi to her mum, stood ready to have a quick chat) : "DS, do you want River to come to your party?"

DS "Who's River?"

Me (rolls eyes at him being silly, point at child ) "River, do you want to come to DS party!?"

River's Mum (laughing) "Her name is Neve"

I still have no idea why he called her River or why, when faced with the embarrassment of me calling her such, he threw me under the bus 😂

Praying to Alan is ace! Grin
For three months our DC was convinced one of her preschool chums was called Turkey, this seemed valid when DP did pick up one day and observed Turkey's mum calling for Turkey...
open evening confirmed he was indeed called TAHKHEI

I need to know what Kwerky translates to .... '-)

There's a child in DS's class called swastika. I thought he was winding me up for months until I got an email from the school with the names of all the kids in his class and sure enough there is a girl called swastika. Turns out it's an old Hindu name, but still I mean they're studying WWII just now.

Dc2 in Reception:

Was convinced that the Christian god is called Wenjesus, because the teacher told them "Wenjesus was born..." and "Wenjesus was put on the cross..." etc.

Was convinced (and puzzled) that a classmate was called A Big Girlie - Abigail, often called Abigailie by her grandma at school pickup.

Struggled with saying Rs, so garbled many names at first. There was a Bendy, who I thought must be Benjy, but turned out was Brendan.

lastqueenofscotland · 30/09/2019 07:32

My guess is Percy

BikeRunSki · 30/09/2019 07:34

DD came home from school, when she was in reception, and announced the was a new girl called giggling Grunty more giggling. It took me a couple of weeks to find out she was actually called Brontë. Grin

BotBotticelli · 30/09/2019 08:47

When Ds started reception he swore blind there was a bit called Wedgie in his class.

Clearly: Reggie.

EssentialHummus · 30/09/2019 08:53

I reckon Kirk or Kwaku.

Rather outing but my 2 year old renamed her little friend Dover (Joseph). He has a grand surname and it suits him!

CaptainMyCaptain · 30/09/2019 09:08

Swastika? Seriously? Poor child, even if it has a different meaning for her family's religion someone should have pointed out it has very bad connotations for the majority of people.

VenusClapTrap · 30/09/2019 09:26

There was a little Tilly in our NCT group. For years, one of the little boys insisted on calling her Titty. He had a voice deep beyond his years as well, so hearing “Titty, come and play” in this gruff voice never got old. We were so disappointed when he switched to Tilly.

Milkstick · 30/09/2019 09:33

Friend's kid met another called Laurie, went home and told his Dad he had a new friend called Truck.

Mmmmdanone · 30/09/2019 09:34

A boy at my ds' nursery called my ds "Lum Lum". His name is Callum but we all called him Lum Lum for ages as it was so cute!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 30/09/2019 09:35

Well my eldest had two friends in preschool he called Angry Boy and Pants.
He and Angry Boy used to like playing together and bellowing at eachother.
He and Pants used to like sneaking up behind eachother and telling "Pants!"
Pants actual name was George. Took me ages to not think "Pants!" whenever I saw him.
