Sewingbea · 29/09/2019 19:09

I met a child (girl) called Diesel once...

crosser62 · 29/09/2019 19:10

My child explained how he was doing RE in class aged about 7.

He sternly informed me of a group of religious people who lay down a rug and said their prayers kneeling on the rug about 4 times a day.
He then went on to tell me that their God is not called a God, he is called Alan.
Adamant that the Muslim God is called Alan.
Got really annoyed with me when I asked if he was sure it isn’t Allah?
No. Alan.

Could be Kwerku, a name my friends bother had.
Kwaku (Kweku, Kuuku, Korku, Kɔku, Kouakou), is an Akan name given to male children born on Wednesday from the Akan and Ewe ethnic group.

Ds’s friend called him “Bafoo” for years.

His name is Matthew.

Aw
Dd2 had a little friend called defangle.
It stuck for years. Nathaniel.
She also had a friend called Ben Sniff. He had a permanently running nose but his surname was defo Smith.

Harleyisme · 29/09/2019 19:21

My ds had a friend at nursery called brocolli me and his keyworker couldn't figure out who it were as no one had a name similar to brocolli turned out the childs name was oakley.

theatrenerd31 · 29/09/2019 19:21

My son had a "la-la" in his class, that was Leila.

We also know a "Windy" (Wendy). She doesn't much appreciate that one 😂

Venger · 29/09/2019 19:21

When DS2 started school he insisted there was a boy in his class called Arn but pronounced with a really long 'r' sound so like Arrr'n.

It turned out was Aaron and DS was unintentionally (and badly) copying his Reception teacher's Belfast accent.

Itsallpetetong · 29/09/2019 19:27

I need to know who Dragonmeat is as well as Kwerky now

Me too!

MsTSwift · 29/09/2019 19:27

My friend wrote out party invites for her dd at nursery she thought the names abit odd. After baffling conversation with nursery staff they realised all the friends were imaginary

Hecksonaplane · 29/09/2019 19:28

Bertie?

Apparently I had a friend called trifle when I was a nursery, on investigation turns out he was called Michael!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/09/2019 19:29

Could Dragonmeat be Dragomir? It is a Slavic name.

fluffedup · 29/09/2019 19:43

DD used to refer to her friend Henry as 'Hengry'

LaMainDeFatima · 29/09/2019 19:45

Kweku ?

Grambler · 29/09/2019 19:49

I wish I could find the Pancake thread as it was full of these.

DS had classmates called Chisel (Giselle), Isabel Withawhy (Ysabelle) and Onion Ring (Angelou)

KipperTheFrog · 29/09/2019 19:49

I'm gonna guess Kirk.
DD for the first term at school was adamant her friend was Jiccup. Wouldn't believe me it was Jacob. She gets it right now.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/09/2019 19:59

Onion Ring!

My youngest had a friend called Midnightingale - turned out to be Abigail.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 29/09/2019 20:03

DS went to school with a kid called Thanks a Million. Real name was Maximilian. But DS was convinced he was right.

FreezerBird · 29/09/2019 20:04

I'm going to go left field here and really really hope that Kwerky is Xerxes.

That's a fab name.
