Showing off DD

So I gave birth to DD last Sunday. My nan died the same day, 2 hours before she was born. So I really don't feel like I can show her off to people as they're mourning the loss of my nan. Parents and siblings have met her, but any interactions feel...put on? Like they're being polite. And it feels wrong to be posting photos of her to friends and family when I should also be mourning.

So can I show her off to you guys?

Bless you OP, your kids haven't brought death to your family. They've brought inordinate amounts of joy, as I'm sure the rest of your family will tell you once things settle down again. Your daughter is a beauty, she's made me feel terribly broody. Congratulations, and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Nan.

She’s bloody lovely! And in time she’s going to be such comfort to your family - enjoy that they’re distracted and you get more of her to yourself. xxx

ImposterSyndrome101 · 23/09/2019 21:13

She's stunning, it's just sad that she was born on such a difficult day but if nothing else her birthday should brighten up a day like that. Especially in the years to come.

JustHereWithPopcorn · 23/09/2019 21:14

So beautiful! Congratulations Thanks

Mummyshark2018 · 23/09/2019 21:14

Congratulations! She is adorable. Sorry for your loss. It's just a shame two big events happened at the same time. Once the shock of the death lifts a little I am sure your little one will bring lots of joy to all of your family and help them through some dark days xx

MrsMozartMkII · 23/09/2019 21:19

She is gorgeous!

People will be very pleased to see her. Their actions might seem stilted, but that'll just be them coming to terms with their loss.

Have a hug lass.

reluctantbrit · 23/09/2019 21:20

What a cutie.

DD was born exactly 10 months after my dad died. My mum just said “sometimes one goes so another can come” when I told her I was pregnant. Maybe not the best advise for everyone but it definitely helped her grieving.

All the best for your family during this time.

DoubtingMyPatience · 23/09/2019 21:33

She’s beautiful OP! I’m sorry for you loss, you should feel you have to hide your DD over the loss of your nan though. Sometimes people find peace with children after death. They say when one life ends another is born. Which when my grandad died my niece was born. It was happy and sad.

Enjoy your lovely DD, it made me very excited to meet mine in January! X
