Showing off DD

So I gave birth to DD last Sunday. My nan died the same day, 2 hours before she was born. So I really don't feel like I can show her off to people as they're mourning the loss of my nan. Parents and siblings have met her, but any interactions feel...put on? Like they're being polite. And it feels wrong to be posting photos of her to friends and family when I should also be mourning.

So can I show her off to you guys?

Congratulations, good job well done. You've baked a perfect baby girl. So sorry for your loss, it's a difficult time for you I'm sure, what a huge mix of emotions. Good luck for the future I'm sure your nan is proud of you too Flowers

NoParticularPattern · 23/09/2019 20:09

No you absolutely can’t because she makes me realise that my boy (7 weeks older) is no longer a tiny newborn and it makes me sad. Also my ovaries can’t take it so there’s that too.

Sorry for your loss. She is gorgeous. Your family adore her I am sure, it’s just not something anyone quite prepares you for is it? Celebrating life and mourning a loss all at the same time. Congratulations, you will all grieve less in time Flowers

Iloveliberty · 23/09/2019 20:09

She's lovely OP, my DB was born the day my grandfather died. They say life goes in cycles, I'm sure she would've adored your daughter, it's ok to be happy even when something sad has happened

I do know how you feel. My son was born on the same day that my friends 9 year old daughter died. She was amazing, as I was naturally reluctant to show him off. She said m son represented hope for the future and she always took a great interest in him. Hopefully your family we take comfort from the circle of life. Maybe in a little while he will be bringing them comfort.
