Showing off DD

So I gave birth to DD last Sunday. My nan died the same day, 2 hours before she was born. So I really don't feel like I can show her off to people as they're mourning the loss of my nan. Parents and siblings have met her, but any interactions feel...put on? Like they're being polite. And it feels wrong to be posting photos of her to friends and family when I should also be mourning.

So can I show her off to you guys?

Congratulations she's beautiful.
Dd2 was born 2mths after Dd1 died. It was the most difficult time of my life.
I swapped sympathy cards for new baby cards.
Dd2 gave me a reason to go on. My family and friends couldn't wait to meet her.
Good luck

Beautiful!! Congratulations op xx so sorry on the loss of your nan.
Your dd has the best guardian angel anyone could wish for xx

HopefulButScared · 23/09/2019 20:22

What horrible timing for you, I'm so sorry. But what a beautiful baby. Congratulations to you! I hope you are both doing well.

Regardless of the circumstance, enjoy her. When everyone has grieved a bit more hopefully your daughter will be a ray of light in a sad time.

I don't know what you believe, but I've experienced a few times when it feels like someone has passed to make more room for a new life. It's still awfully sad, but perhaps your Nan knew your daughter was so special she could make even more room for her.

If your Nan can be looking over you both, I'm sure she will be. At least that's what I like to believe about my Grandad and my son. It doesn't make it less painful, but it makes it more bearable for me.

Love to you all.

A similar thing happened to me OP - my DH's Nan died the same day that our first baby was born. Sending you hugs and massive congratulations. She is gorgeous Smile

DeadDoorpost · 23/09/2019 20:30

Her name is Charlotte.

I'm doing ok I guess. I had PND after DS and still sùffered with it during the pregnancy so we're keeping an eye on any symptoms at the moment. Definitely emotional though.

She is absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations.

I think I kind of know how you feel, during my pregnancy a close family members newborn was very, very ill. He is fine now thank god but It was a horrible situation and I felt awful for carrying a healthy baby and then for having a healthy newborn. I didn't want to rub it in or make anyone feel bad. Ultimately though, people were still happy for me.

I'm really sorry for your loss Thanks

DeadDoorpost · 23/09/2019 20:35

Thank you for the kind words of congratulations and condolence.

I think it's hard because 5/6 days before DS was born we lost my DH's granddad so it's almost as though our children have brought death to the family.
