Just after some opinions...if someone left the caravan in this state would you refund their deposit? No dust pan and brush in unit

You might as well name them now OP?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/07/2019 13:36

I have now been banned from the site for challenging this

I'm really sorry to hear this, but I'm afraid it firms up my view that they were scamming you and don't appreciate being called out on it

Maybe if this is the way things are going, it's no bad thing to find somewhere else before even worse happens?

CitadelsofScience · 29/07/2019 13:38

That's bonkers, banned? Why would you ban a repeat customer for leaving a few crumbs and missed an apple on the floor. The world gets madder by the day!

As for the people that scrub the holiday pad down for two hours and think Op should be as ashamed as you would all be, you're bonkers too. The point of a holiday is not cleaning.

Name and shame them all over Facebook/Twitter and trip advisor Op. they’re we’re very clearly pulling a fast one. Other people deserve to know before they book.

catofdoom · 29/07/2019 13:39

Blimey. Although I wouldn't have left this mess myself banning is a bit ott!!

purplecorkheart · 29/07/2019 13:51

Is it under new management or something? While I would not leave a place in that state I do not warrants with holding a deposit or being banned from the site

madeabooboo · 29/07/2019 13:52

This is apparently a breakdown of the costs incurred....

Anyone with a legal background have any advice? It's no longer about the money but the defamation of character and now banning me from the park like an anti social harpy

They’re having a fucking giraffe! 😂

I’m a cleaner. (Not that it takes a cleaner to see what work is required here) there is no way in hell they spent that on cleaning products. The floor required hoovering. This would be done as standard between guests =no extra charge. The oven (if it’s just that little orange smear on the glass door?) require spraying, leaving a couple of minutes (while they hoover Wink) and then wiping with a damp cloth.

General additional cleaning? Lifting toilet rolls off the floor does not use any cleaning products. It takes 3 seconds.

Tbh I’d take them Small’s claims court just for the principle of the thing and shame them publicly. They are absolutely taking the piss.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 29/07/2019 14:01

Im so angry for you OP. ASSUMING you have already paid?

Tattletale · 29/07/2019 14:10

What was the key deposit dispute OP?

treasuredmoments · 29/07/2019 14:17

Small claims court. They can't take your money for no reason.

treasuredmoments · 29/07/2019 14:18

Also get posting on their Facebook page.

CitadelsofScience · 29/07/2019 14:19

I'd be all over Twitter with that.

They can't charge you for senior staff members time because it's a senior members job to sort this stuff out.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 29/07/2019 14:19

If you’re taking them to small claims court don’t go public with this. They’ll use that in a counter claim for damaging their reputation.

suzy2b · 29/07/2019 14:20

OMG i used to clean caravans some of them where left in awful conditions ,sink full of every plate cup and saucepan floors filthy , i also at one time had a caravan i rented out the only deposit i'v ever heard about is one to secure caravan never a refundable one ,have also stayed in caravans

CrispbuttyNo1 · 29/07/2019 14:23

I wouldn't have left it like that myself, but they are being ridiculous. I work in a budget accommodation place and we get much worse mess left behind by guests.

Roastedpepperfeta · 29/07/2019 14:28

I've stopped there before. I wondered if it was there as it's the only place I've had to pay a deposit. We did break a wine glass and I thought they'd deduct for that but they didn't.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/07/2019 14:30

Unless there's something more you've not mentioned, this just ceased to make any sense - why are they charging for sorting out your query, when sorting out queries is their job? And how do they imagine "extra cleaning materials" come to a tenner, or that picking up a loo roll and an apple is an onerous task deserving extra pay?

Interesting that the awards they've been given are all for 2016/17 and that there's nothing since ... like a PP I'm wondering if there's been a change of management?

ALittleBitAlexis · 29/07/2019 14:32

Almost half of the charge is for their admin time in dealing with your complaint - those roles don't have an hourly rate, the figure is plucked out of the air!

I'm sorry I don't know what options there are other than social media or small claims, but I'd struggle to let this go if I were you, they're taking the piss.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/07/2019 14:37

It also says in the T&Cs that the deposit is £50, but I think you mentioned paying £30?

Just wondering if you booked it some time ago, and whether a recent change might also indicate new management?

PrincessScarlett · 29/07/2019 14:39

Those costs are completely made up! And it looks like they are blaming you for the broken window.

How pathetic that they say they won't communicate further.

Surely the caravan should be cleaned anyway between guests so why are they using your deposit to clean?

JacquesHammer · 29/07/2019 14:41

Oh I’d just take off your name and display that image over social media.

If the stuff outlined is an additional clean, they’re pretty much admitting they don’t clean properly in between guests.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 29/07/2019 14:41

I’m laughing my head off at the £30 for the time taken for four staff members to deal with your query. None of those named will be on minimum wage. (£8.21/hour) £30/4 is £7.50. (Much Wink) Less than an hour was spent by each person dealing with your query. At a guess I would say none spent more than 10 minutes on it. It’s totally farcical that they would stick a price of £30 on that Grin

Someonesayroadtrip · 29/07/2019 14:42

What was the key issue? I'm guessing you has already bumped head over something and now they are making it difficult. It's hard to really know. If the entire carpet needed cleaned I could maybe see their point, if it were literally just the things you posted then I think they are being difficult.

peachgreen · 29/07/2019 14:47

Oof, what a snotty email. I'm curious as to what the key deposit issue was too but they're certainly overcharging you for the cleaning. They can't charge £30 admin fee either, you didn't pay an admin deposit!
