Just after some opinions...if someone left the caravan in this state would you refund their deposit? No dust pan and brush in unit

Well it depends how big the deposit is and what cleaning equipment was available.

It's not really a huge mess, by any means. But I wouldn't have left it like that myself.

Hairyheadphones · 27/07/2019 14:36

It could be sorted in less than 2 mins, probably took just as long to photograph. I assume you left the mess and aren’t being refunded your deposit.

Surely those are large enough to be picked up even if no broom, mop, hoover etc provided.

ATrampsVest · 27/07/2019 14:37

Depends on the rental agreement surely? Does it stipulate that the caravan must be left in a clean condition? If not then you have to return the deposit I would have thought.

Finfintytint · 27/07/2019 14:37

It wouldn’t take much effort to clear that up with or without a dustpan. It’s not damaged is it?
Retaining the whole deposit seems unfair.

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:38

I stayed in it with my family.

I picked as much as I could up by hand. All beds stripped and all bins emptied

Dampen some kitchen roll and use that.

Seeline · 27/07/2019 14:39

Were any cleaning appliances available? Broom, vacuum, mop etc?

If not, then the mess is really only what would be expected after a week.

Even if they were, I don't think a deposit should be withheld - surely the unit would be properly cleaned before the next resident moved in?

The window looks damaged though, so depending on what has actually happened there, retention of part of the deposit may be warranted, depending on how big it was in the first place.

PancakeAndKeith · 27/07/2019 14:39

I would huff a bit but I would refund. It’s nothing huge. The apple can be missed easily enough, hard to sweep up the crumbs without a dust pan and brush.

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:39

All kitchen roll used cleaning the sides the table etc

RedDogsBeg · 27/07/2019 14:39

A dustpan and brush should be provided but you don't need a dustpan and brush to pick an apple up off the floor.

What's in photo 3? Is it a smear of something, if so surely there are cloths provided to wipe stuff off surfaces?

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:40

The window was already like that

Picture three is the inside of the oven door

QuckTheDuck · 27/07/2019 14:42

Why do you have pics if it was you who stayed? Did the owners send them to you?

That said, why did you leave it that way? Fairly easy to sort, no?

RedDogsBeg · 27/07/2019 14:43

Were there absolutely no cleaning equipment or products supplied?

Couldn't you have bought more kitchen roll or a cloth?

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:43

I cleaned and tidied everything I could see by the naked eye with the materials I had left. This is a park we have stayed at many many years and have always left in a similar way and had deposit refunded

OP posts:
madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:44

No red they don't supply anything

I must admit the things are so minuscule I didn't even notice

OP posts:
LIZS · 27/07/2019 14:45

Honestly, it looks sloppy rather than excessively dirty.

WTCT · 27/07/2019 14:45

I picked as much as I could up by hand. All beds stripped and all bins emptied

You can’t pick up an apple by hand?

Presumably it’s your deposit that’s been withheld?

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:46

I didn't even notice the apple I have poor mobility so struggle bending down under tables

OP posts:
SteeperThanHell · 27/07/2019 14:46

If you run out of kitchen roll, surely you just buy some more?

We do a couple of cottage holidays a year and always leave them clean and tidy. I suppose it all comes down to what is written in your rental agreement.

madeabooboo · 27/07/2019 14:47

I wasn't about to buy a new roll the last morning when I had just cleaned all the surfaces table etc on the last morning

Also used a pack of wipes on arrival for dust above bed and lamps

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/07/2019 14:47

Sundried goldfish in picture 3, vair exotic.

Moodyfoodie · 27/07/2019 14:48

Is that a piece of fruit left on the floor? That's a bit rank but no way does any of it warrant a deposit not being given back.
