Madein1995 Completely agree! I used to hate being told to go outside when I just wanted to hide indoors with a good book. Lovely when you can please yourself.

I was brought up in a hot country and the last thing anyone would say is 'go and play in the sun!' Only in the UK.

Becca19962014 · 26/08/2019 19:19

And the crap about needing to have a nice tan and putting butter on skin to get one.

Yes I'm talking a long time ago.

The good old days when we actually had seasons

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/08/2019 19:28

With us Becca it was vaseline.

You came in all shiny!

My mum told us about when she wanted a tan and covered herself in baby oil back as a teen Shock thankfully we are all better educated on the dangers of the sun now!

Safe to say, even August, I am still so pale and white that I am seethrough - you can see how much I like the sun...!!! Grin Grin

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/08/2019 20:10

Baby oil!!GrinHmm

Just went to corner shop. Waited till the sun was going down. The air is thin and hot. More carbon emission than oxygen No satisfaction in breathing at all.

It’s better outside tonight than last night, in London anyway

Re children playing in sun, I’m of that age. My parents were raised in a hot country and were horrified that we were encouraged to play in strong sun!

Still no clarity on whether tomorrow is the last of the worst of it, or if Wednesday will be hideous too.

Becca19962014 · 26/08/2019 21:20

You all disappeared off my "I'm on" !
Flat beginning to cool down a bit now.
Dreading appointment tomorrow though.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/08/2019 21:23

I just want it to stop.

I can't decide what sorts of summers I hate most. The ones which have a solid 2 months of relentless sun but then burn out and are over by Autumn. Or the ones that appear to be cool only to turn up the heat near the bloody end of summer when you're unprepared or the ones like this that have a constant back and forth of heat with milder days and then drag on for bloody ages and won't end.

We'll probably be getting blazing rays in September!

Catherine last year was definitely worse. I say that hoping this is the last of it....but last year in London, May onwards was pretty bad, which was an incredibly early start. I had to put extra covers over the glass and they kept falling down due to the heat. Hence why I didnt bother this year.

Becca19962014 · 26/08/2019 22:25

I hate all summers.
Except cool damp ones.

Grin
Mumoftoo19 · 26/08/2019 22:25

Been watching this post for a while but now I'm joining in. Its 27 in my bedroom right now and I just can't get it any cooler. Everyone in the house is arsey because of the heat and I'm so over summer. I used to really love summer and now I cant stand it! My littlest ds is breastfed and that makes both of us overheat when it's like thisSad

Becca19962014 · 26/08/2019 22:34

Fuck.
Tomorrow has just been revised upwards by five fucking degrees.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

My appointment is first thing in a fucking building of glass which has been closed since fucking Friday.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Angry

Just in case anyone hadn't noticed!

Becca19962014 · 26/08/2019 22:35

mum welcome to the thread. Mines fallen slightly over last hour but still very hot.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/08/2019 22:39

BeccaGrin

Mumoftoo19Sad Ahh your poor little one!

Apparently I was conceived during one of the hottest record breaking heat waves of the 70s. Any time my mother wanted to guilt me she'd say 'And I fainted from the heat whilst pregnant with you'...

Which probably explains my aversion to excessively hot weather nowGrin

Rosa...Yeah last year was really bad, I broke down in tears at work. It does win the trophy I suppose, although at least once it was over it was over.

My appointment is first thing in a fucking building of glass

You know I have always wondered who in their right mind builds these things? Are they designed to bypass the need for security by burning everyone who parks or walks under them to smithereens??

It's down to 22 here and feels marginally more comfortable. Back up to 30 tomorrow though. Today was so uncomfortable and sweltering at 32.

The forecast then has the temp here on Wednesday dropping to a very comfortable 22/23 degrees during the day and dropping to around 15 at night.

Madein1995 · 26/08/2019 23:29

To be fair when it wasn't quite so fucking skin meltingly hot a few months back I did sit in the garden to try and get a tan, it's the hear that gets to me. It's madness that kids were forced to play out, even if you're looking just from a comfort perspective and not a health ond

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 26/08/2019 23:38

Fuck me,31 tomorrow too!!!

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 26/08/2019 23:40

Btw it's LoafofSellotape, I had a name change Smile

RosaWaiting · 27/08/2019 01:00

Too hot....

almostautumn · 27/08/2019 02:43

Anyone else struggling to sleep in the heat? I have loads to get done at work today and am going to be shattered Sad Only one more day of this ridiculous heat thank goodness - I honestly don’t get how anyone can enjoy it!

HelenaDove · 27/08/2019 03:00

I hate it Its wrecking my health.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 27/08/2019 05:30

Well so much for sleep!Angry

It's just climbing back up again after barely dipping overnight 😩

How is this overheated, sweaty, no air mess enjoyable to anyone? 😩😩

I admit that I don't like anything above say 10 (have a health condition and my inner thermostat is broken and I cannot regulate it so the colder the better for me) for reasons.... But this is just stupid! It's deeply unpleasant!
