Just seen on the news that Harry and Meghan will not release any details of Archie’s godparents

What does everyone think? The papers seem really annoyed by their decision to keep Archie’s godparents secret. I’m not sure what to think. I don’t think it would hurt to let the public know these details and to see the christening party arrive at church.

I think it is their choice.

Of course it annoys the papers not to be able to report a happy non-Brexit story.

Unshriven · 03/07/2019 19:29

He's their child.

Will never inherit the throne. Why should they present him here, there and everywhere?

'People' have no claim on that child.

The Rebublic can't come soon enough.

Tarchie · 03/07/2019 19:29

Yes I agree, it is their choice. But it’s a happy occasion which would be nice for people to see a little of.

I think a lot of people, press included, forget that this child is not really an heir to the throne - well he is, but a long way down the list really. He will never be king.

A lot of people, including the press, are also desperately finding anything to critique Meghan about too. It's incessant.

Calloway · 03/07/2019 19:32

It's their choice but it does seem a bit precious,

SkintAsASkintThing · 03/07/2019 19:32

I think Harry doesn't want his son enduring the life he's had. And good in him. The media should give him some bloody respect after what they did to his mother. A woman who had cameras flashing in her face as she lay dying.

ScaryBunnyPainting · 03/07/2019 19:32

He’s just a baby, it’s none of our business.

KnifeAngel · 03/07/2019 19:33

They seem to want it all their own way. They are happy to take the public's money but won't share their lives with the public.

LoveB · 03/07/2019 19:33

They probably want to give the godparents (presumably friends) some privacy

Calloway · 03/07/2019 19:33

If Harry doesn't want his son to endure the life he's had he could always walk away from it all.

Xyzzzzz · 03/07/2019 19:34

Why do we need to know? Good for them trying to keep things private.

Winterlife · 03/07/2019 19:34

I suspect this is Harry’s decision, not Meaghan’s.

I don’t care one way or another but I’d be unhappy about this were I a British taxpayer. If you want privacy, become a private citizen.

RedSheep73 · 03/07/2019 19:35

Oh my god!

No, honestly, I don't give a and I can't see why anyone outside their family would?

Aragog · 03/07/2019 19:35

The couple said they 'look forward to sharing some images taken on the day' by their favourite photographer, but the 'godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private'

They are going to share official photographs.

The godparents themselves don't want to be named.

Outsomnia · 03/07/2019 19:35

No problem with them wanting it all to stay private. Their choice.

Would be even more conciliatory if they weren't benefiting from the Crown purse or whatever it is that is funding their millions of spending. Maybe it's their own money, in which case I take it all back.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 19:36

Hardly! Did you inform the press who would be godparents to your child?

Aragog · 03/07/2019 19:36

won't share their lives with the public.

They are providing 'the public' with photographs after the event.

AutumnCrow · 03/07/2019 19:37

They're usually a load of unmemorable Farquar Barquars anyway.

GCAcademic · 03/07/2019 19:38

They won’t be naming private individuals who wish to remain private? Off with their heads!

ChicCroissant · 03/07/2019 19:38

My guess is that Harry doesn't want to say who the godparents are, and Meghan's friends will leak it very shortly Grin

I'm fine with them keeping things private if they want to, I think there will be less interest in the more 'minor' royals in future. As I said on another thread Harry's in the position that Air Miles Andy is in now and it's a difficult path to tread.

Calloway · 03/07/2019 19:38

  1. I didn't have my child christened

  2. Dimwitted comparison to make.

Calloway · 03/07/2019 19:39

If you want privacy, become a private citizen.

Yes.

RubberTreePlant · 03/07/2019 19:41

Vive la republique.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 03/07/2019 19:42

Dimwitted comparison to make.

Rude.

GCAcademic · 03/07/2019 19:42

If you want privacy, become a private citizen.

The godparents are private citizens, I assume.
