Just seen on the news that Harry and Meghan will not release any details of Archie’s godparents

What does everyone think? The papers seem really annoyed by their decision to keep Archie’s godparents secret. I’m not sure what to think. I don’t think it would hurt to let the public know these details and to see the christening party arrive at church.

The royal family need to keep up the appearances, photo shots etc otherwise they may go out of fashion and some of them might have to work or at least pay for their own renovations.

Jsmith99 · 03/07/2019 20:11

Harry & Meghan are trying to have it both ways. They want the money, entitlement, status, flunkies and privileges of being royalty while using their child to remain private when it suits them. If they want to be private citizens, fine. All they have to do is abdicate then earn their own living. Don’t hold your breath...

Outsomnia · 03/07/2019 20:11

Best get a wealthy godparent. My mother told me that, now she and Dad tried, but it didn't work for me! Not that I care.

I'm happy anyway, no worries. Glad not to have to live in a fishbowl. Privacy is worth millions IMO.

who the fuck advises them? whats the name of her american pr company? she must fire them

Ginger1982 · 03/07/2019 20:11

Depends who the godparents are. If it's actors/actresses as possibly likely on meghan's side then why can't we know?

Apparently she's been through a fair number of nannies too!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/07/2019 20:11

Does anyone really care about who the godparents are? It’s hardly as issue of public interest. If the parents and godparents want to keep a private family event private, I can’t see a problem.

That's the thing though, no one cares but once you're told it's all very secret then you go, WTF? and you start caring. It's human nature.

Sarcelle · 03/07/2019 20:12

If they want to lead a private life give up the public's money.

Calloway · 03/07/2019 20:13

I didn't make the rules but that is the deal Harry has signed up for by being a 'working' royal. Like it or just leave it and pursue a totally private life where there is no accountability to the people who fund part of it.

I agree.

mrscampbellblackagain · 03/07/2019 20:13

To be fair, I can totally see George Clooney and Oprah not wanting to be in the public eye. I mean they are such shy retiring types . . .

mrscampbellblackagain · 03/07/2019 20:15

No such thing as a free lunch or free house renovations. And yes the Cambridges seem to get that as we apparently have to compare everything they do.

Itssosunny · 03/07/2019 20:15

Whenever I open an online newspaper there is an article about H and M. It has become a harassment or bullying.

H and M said they will share the photos but keep the name of the god parents private. I think if they reveal the names, poor god parents will be harassed as well. There will be no life.

He has always, famously, hated the press and his wife has been slagged off with unbelievable vitriol. I don't blame them. Meghan might have been ok with being in the public eye to a certain point, she was an actress, but things have gone too far. If they are making fun of the press, good for them.

mrscampbellblackagain · 03/07/2019 20:18

That's not how the RF works. Today is a scary horrid world for celebs I know. But employ decent PR/Social media experts and present yourselves well.

Honestly, I reckon they've got the intern doing their PR at the moment and that is what I judge.

but she fuels the negative coverage with her ill advised stunts

I don’t know why anyone really cares, does anyone remember Harry’s godparents and wills? It’s a bit boring really

It normally is but it’s likely knowing Meghan they’ll be picking celebs. Just look at their wedding. Full of old friends like Oprah, the Clooneys and the Beckhams

Outsomnia · 03/07/2019 20:19

@ChardonnaysPrettySister

Precisely. If you want it private go ahead and do it and tell us all later that it happened with a few pix of a finger or an eyebrow. Will all be forgotten in a day or two

Media management is going on here. And I for one find it distasteful. Do it in private but if you tell us it's private it is the opposite! God I am getting sick of this now. But since my taxes are paying for them I think I am entitled to comment.

trueprofile · 03/07/2019 20:21

That money had been earmarked for Frogmore renovations long before Meghan entered the picture, and the renovations would have happened with or without her. They used public money to renovate Kate's parent's house! And to do completely unnecessary things like move a tennis court a bit to the left. hmm

where did you get that info from?Hmm

Hithere12 · 03/07/2019 20:21

It wouldn’t even be a big deal with him to abdicate now either. He’s now a Prince Andrew type royal. But they won’t.

Boysey45 · 03/07/2019 20:22

I think they come across as greedy and grasping and not very nice/false. Nobody is bothered anyway.

Pieceofpurplesky · 03/07/2019 20:22

George Clooney got asked enough when the baby was born if he was going to be God parent. Whoever it is will be hounded by the press - I don't blame them for wanting to stay private

that25cUKHeatwaveof2019 · 03/07/2019 20:23

ut she fuels the negative coverage with her ill advised stunts

no, the press translate whatever she does in a nasty way, and twist absolutely everything. It was the same with Kate, but it never went that far, even if it has been quite nasty at times. These attack against Meghan are something else. It's very embarrassing.

sunflowersandbutterflies · 03/07/2019 20:25

People saying 'become a private citizen' ... Archie is a private citizen. He's not titled and he won't be funded in adulthood or a working Royal.

So he's entitled to privacy. Who cares anyway?

Pinkpartyplanner · 03/07/2019 20:25

People care because it’s public money paying for it.

Outsomnia · 03/07/2019 20:26

It is all to keep us away from the Brexit debacle. Engineered now.

Good day to break bad news and all that.

And if anyone thinks this is NOT media managed they are totally deluded.
