Just seen on the news that Harry and Meghan will not release any details of Archie’s godparents

What does everyone think? The papers seem really annoyed by their decision to keep Archie’s godparents secret. I’m not sure what to think. I don’t think it would hurt to let the public know these details and to see the christening party arrive at church.

meghan doesnt strike me as someone who can stay away from publicity, she will hint it. they claimed that they wont reveal her baby but they did, said christining will be private but its not.

When did 'they; say the baby wouldn't be 'revealed'?
From what I remember they'd said that the exact timings and hospital wouldn't be announced in advance, and there'd be no photograph shoot on the hospital steps. But nothing about not having some details and photographs published at a later date.

I repeat my earlier observation:

A lot of people, including the press, are also desperately finding anything to critique Meghan about too. It's incessant.

My guess is that Will and Kate are not godparents so they want to keep this out of press for as long as possible to avoid new 'rift' headlines.

I hope the godparents know who they are. They need to communicate in advance of the christening so the baby doesn’t end up with five Sophie the Giraffes and three Peter Rabbit money boxes.

Honestly, if you want privacy then become a private citizen. Harry and Meghan have money so just do that.

But don't take money from the public albeit indirectly and then refuse to release some pretty inconsequential information it makes Harry look churlish and that' s not a good look.

Not sure how christenings work with the royals but locally it is just random families on a sunday morning service so hardly top secret info.

I don’t understand this post. Surely Meghan is shying away from publicity now? They managed to have a very private hospital birth. They didn’t pose for pictures 6hrs after. The baby hasn’t been given a title. What more could she do to prove to you that she doesn’t want the publicity?
The christening is happening in private. They will release some pictures but probably not that many. The godparents will be kept unnamed, that’s about as private that Prince Harry could get away with.

That money was either right or wrong. If it's wrong then say so, but it doesn't buy the right to identify people in a religious service.

The GODPARENTS don't want to be named. Chances are they are private citizens themselves. Are they not allowed to choose? The godparents owe the public nothing if they are private citizens!

Think they have to be careful here actually. I understand that some things are private but it does seem a bit churlish not to even name the godparents.
People are going to be interested in this family and the baby, so they need to meet people half way.

I think Harry knows full well that he is a working royal and his son will be a nonentity.

So he is happy to do all the engagements and charity stuff but his children are off limits.

His children are going to be the new Viscount Linley and Sarah Chatto - who are not royal at all, barely go to any of the big royal turnout events even when you see a host of Kents, Windsors and Gloucestors you need a family tree to name.
