What scent did your mum wear?

Mine wore l'Air du Temps when I was little. The scent of it takes me straight back to childhood.

I must ask the DC if there's any particular perfume that I wore that they associate with me.

We're talking 55years ago,
I remember she wore perfume from a deep blue bottle from a deep blue box.
Something to do with France -Paris Soir? It wouldn't have been expensive.
Any ideas anyone?

Ifeelinclined · 21/06/2019 02:14

My mom wore First perfume when I was a child. I love it because it smells like her. She wears Chanel now though.

MaMisled · 21/06/2019 02:32

Tweed....ugh.

What scent did your mum wear?
mimibunz · 21/06/2019 02:44

White Shoulders, no idea who makes it. My grandmother wore Emeraude by Coty.

pollywollydoodler · 21/06/2019 02:52

@BoreOfWhabylon
That's it, thank you
It seemed so glamorous at the time

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/06/2019 02:54

It did! My mum used it too.

Crushedvelvetcouch · 21/06/2019 03:31

YSL Champagne, they've now rebranded it as Yvresse and she still wears it.

mathanxiety · 21/06/2019 04:07

Coty L'Aimant. This was in the 60s and 70s.

And Blue Grass deodorant.

MarieVanGoethem · 21/06/2019 04:39

My mother wore Anaïs Anaïs & Lou Lou - it’s the latter I most remember her wearing.

I got a real shock at my 25th birthday party - it was book character fancy dress & I was Lucy Pevensie, wearing a coat of my DM’s, in the pocket of which I discovered a (clean!) tissue that smelled of LouLou. It actually made me feel almost dizzy, as if she were suddenly there, in reach, just as my sister carried my birthday cake over to me.

HotChocolateLover · 21/06/2019 07:17

My mum wears Gucci Rush. It’s a lovely scent.

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 21/06/2019 07:23

@TheSmallAssassin givenchy recently brought out a perfume with the same name, I’ve no idea if it’s the same scent but it’s worth a look to check for nostalgia reasons!

cheesenpickles · 21/06/2019 07:25

My mum has lots of perfumes she loved but her absolute favourite, and the one that always makes me think of her, was the original Fendi. You can't buy it anymore but I have her last bottle hidden away in a dark drawer and take it out and smell it occasionally. Always reminds me of Christmas when my dad would buy her a new bottle and usually a cashmere jumper and I'd snuggle up with her for her a cuddle. It's over 11.5 years old now and I'm always worried next time I smell it it'll have gone off and where they don't make it anymore I'll only be able to get dupes that won't be the same. Sad

opinionatedfreak · 21/06/2019 07:33

Chanel no. 5

I can't wear it.

Doilooklikeatourist · 21/06/2019 07:37

Je Revien and Tweed

wendz86 · 21/06/2019 08:25

Anais anais.

Mayday19 · 21/06/2019 08:27

Blue grass. Well not in her later years but when I was little that’s what it was. I bought some once to recreate the feeling but it wasn’t the same!

welliesarefuntowear · 21/06/2019 08:27

Chanel No 5. She died at the start of the year. I have a scarf of hers and two bottles she got for Christmas. I quite often spray it on the scarf and wrap it round me.

NC4Now · 21/06/2019 08:37

Chanel No 5 for my mum too.

CORSACORSA · 21/06/2019 08:37

Opium. Samsara. Then Eden. When she died i put the blanket she had on her in a box with the Eden and her hair brush. I open it now and then to smell it.

I heard her say that she wore something like An Evening in Paris when she was younger.

Stravapalava · 21/06/2019 09:29

YSL Rive Gauche. She still wears it to this day.

Doraismissing · 21/06/2019 09:35

My mum always wore Ysatis and smelling it always reminds me of her

My children say that whenever they smell Chanel No5 they think of me

BowiesJumper · 21/06/2019 11:27

Anaïs anaïs here too. Consequently I find it a really comforting smell!

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 21/06/2019 11:37

Chanel No.5 w/B&H gold.
Then Cinema, can't remember who makes it though!
