What scent did your mum wear?

Mine wore l'Air du Temps when I was little. The scent of it takes me straight back to childhood.

I must ask the DC if there's any particular perfume that I wore that they associate with me.

Mine wore Tweed, I think it was by Lentheric. Only for special occasions though.
I haven’t smelt that for years. I don’t even know if it’s still around.

formerbabe · 20/06/2019 11:04

Cabochard...not sure if anyone remembers that. She died over 25 years ago and I still have a full bottle of the stuff and it still smells fine!

VoluptuaSneezelips · 20/06/2019 11:05

@LadyGardens

Anais Anais I lost my mum early and love that smell to remind me of her. As a result I have worn one scent every day of motherhood so that my children will have a scent to remember me buy if I too die young.

Lost my mum in my early 20's, she also wore Anais Anais. I kept her bottle and every once in a while I take the lid off so I can smell it. Nearly 40 now and still can't wear it still after all this time as I get too upset.

White musk by the body shop
It’s an interesting smell when mixed with bo and wee

Still makes me boak

MadisonAvenue · 20/06/2019 11:23

Estée Lauder White Linen was what my Mom wore for years. She wears Paul Smith Rose now.

My mother in law loves an incredibly strong US perfume called Ciara. The smell lingers for days after she’s stayed here.

Crinkle77 · 20/06/2019 11:39

shiveringtimber my mum also wore L'Air du Temps but she hasn't worn it for years. My grandma used to wear Charlie.

Jocasta2018 · 20/06/2019 11:45

L'air du temps. Such a wonderful smell. I think they've tinkered with the recipe now.

For a while my Dad wore Hugo Boss. It's a smell I love but means I can't date anyone who wears it!

A family friend used to wear Davidoff Cool Water. He died a few years ago but if I smell the aftershave on anyone, it takes me back to my childhood when he & his wife used to visit.

Whosorrynow · 20/06/2019 11:46

I'm not sure but I remember feeling sick during car journeys on account of her perfume

TheRedBarrows · 20/06/2019 11:47

Je Reviens
Or Aqua Manda

OverseasWorker · 20/06/2019 11:49

Ysatis, Rive Gauche, Chanel No5.

fussychica · 20/06/2019 11:51

My mum never wore perfume, ever, said it gave her a headache.

I am obviously around the same age as many of your mums, as in the past I wore Ma Griffe, Blue Grass and First by Van Cleef and Arpels.

DontTouchMyCurls · 20/06/2019 11:58

Tweed. She also wore some musk perfume in the 70s. She loved musk. Now she wears Angel and Flowerbomb Grin

I bought some vintage (not the reformulated version) Guerlain Champs-Elysees several years back and she immediately said "My grandmother used to wear that when I was little" so I gave her it. It's lovely how smells can have long lasting memories

SrSteveOskowski · 20/06/2019 12:03

@Babdoc, I had the same mother who wore the same perfume.
I absolutely hate it.

LoveVelo · 20/06/2019 12:03

Youth Dew years ago and now Paloma Picasso.
This thread has reminded me of 70's perfume trends, I give you: Tramp...(ffs)

Whosorrynow · 20/06/2019 12:07

Just reading the names of these perfumes brings back a lot of memories for me, I have a bottle of Clinique aromatics elixir, I can't wear it because it gives me a headache but I sometimes smell it to summon my grandmother

MrsPear · 20/06/2019 12:23

Mum anis anis
Dad old spice

GrumpyOldMare · 20/06/2019 12:31

As far as I can remember,Mum never wore perfume.
Gran always wore Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden or 4711. I always have a bottle of Blue Grass just to sniff and remember.

Mrsorganmorgan · 20/06/2019 12:33

Coty Muguet de Bois

notso · 20/06/2019 12:34

Ma Griffe like PP it reminds me of feeling car sick, really strong smell mingling with Dad's fags.

Tigger001 · 20/06/2019 12:37

Chanel No 5 or Allure.
If I'm having a sad day when I miss her lots, I wear it to help me get through the day (sounds very silly but works for me)

I wear Armani "She" or Calvin Klein "Euphoria"

PortiaCastis · 20/06/2019 12:38

My Mum wears Madame Rochas and has done for years in fact never known her to use anything else but it's not a bad scent and I always have a spray when I'm at her place

Tigger001 · 20/06/2019 12:39

There is also a certain smell, I can't out my finger on, but it's certain lipsticks that have this smell that remind me of her, so I have kept hers

MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2019 12:41

Anais Anais I think

Whatever it was it has a huge association with feeling car sick

amusedbush · 20/06/2019 12:42

My mum rarely wears perfume but when she does it tends to be quite rich, almost spicy scents. I've never liked a single perfume she's owned.

I prefer much lighter, floral sort of perfumes.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 20/06/2019 12:57

My mum wears Anais Anais for ordinary going out, eg lunch with friends, and Chanel No. 5 for special occasions.

Grandma used Youth Dew or L'Aimant talc and had an ancient bottle of Apple Blossom on her dressing table for decades.
