What scent did your mum wear?

Mine wore l'Air du Temps when I was little. The scent of it takes me straight back to childhood.

I must ask the DC if there's any particular perfume that I wore that they associate with me.

@flumpybear

My Grandma loved Ma Griffe and it was super pricey. It was discontinued but they re-made it for a while about 3 years ago. I got her some for her 80th birthday!!

Magissa · 20/06/2019 06:57

Kiku was one. Then L'air du temps and finally Youth Dew. She died twenty years ago and I still have a bag of her scarfs which smell of L'air du temps still. I can't bring myself to wash them because putting my nose into that bag is almost like getting a hug from her Sad I am considering buying an old bottle of L'air du temps on ebay... More authentic than a new one.. And wash and respray them. Don't know if it will be the same though.
Her sister wore Apple Blossom and L'Aiment.

Yardley Lily of the Valley

Tweed. I'm the one who wears 4711 these days!

LadyPollyEstherCardigan · 20/06/2019 07:03

Anaïs Anaïs and YSL Rive Gauche

IntoValhalla · 20/06/2019 07:05

Samsara and benson & hedges gold Blush

I still love the smell of Samsara though

mackerella · 20/06/2019 07:06

Mitsouko and Ma Griffe. Although I'm a mildly interested perfumista now, I don't really appreciate Mitsouko in particular, as I associate it with feeling very sick on car journeys (especially when mixed with our dad's fag ash)!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/06/2019 07:06

Avon's 'Moonwind'. We found an old bottle when we were clearing out a cupboard a while back. It was like Proust's madeleines...

ReginaGeorgeous · 20/06/2019 07:07

My mum always wore Rive Gauche when I was little and now she wears far too much Chanel Coco and my kids always reek of it after she's hugged them.

Candycandle · 20/06/2019 07:08

Beautiful by Este Lauder. (Sorry about my spelling).

LadyGardens · 20/06/2019 07:10

Anais Anais

I lost my mum early and love that smell to remind me of her. As a result I have worn one scent every day of motherhood so that my children will have a scent to remember me buy if I too die young.

DuggeesWoggle · 20/06/2019 07:11

She doesn't wear perfume much but when she does it's something hideous like L'Aimant Coty. Sickly floral and makes me cough.

When she's dead and gone I imagine it will be very evocative.

Magissa keep those scarves just as they are. I bet you wouldn't be able to fully recreate the smell.

FogCutter · 20/06/2019 07:11

Femme.
Horrid smell, really strong and reminds me of feeling sick on car journeys.

AnnaNimmity · 20/06/2019 07:14

Rive Gauche here too.

wheresmymojo · 20/06/2019 07:20

She wears Jean Paul Gaultier Classique

HerondaleDucks · 20/06/2019 07:22

My mum has always wore Opium by Yves Saint Laurent
When I smell it I think of her every time.

Gemster19 · 20/06/2019 07:31

My mum wears a Michael Kors perfume that I can't remember the name of but DP unknowingly bought me some for Xmas and I always make a right prat of myself every time I wear it - it'll suddenly waft up in the middle of the day and I'll start looking around for my mum 😂

CMOTDibbler · 20/06/2019 07:35

My mum always wore Yardley lily of the valley if dressing up, and adopted a bottle of Anais Anais that I discarded as a teenager.
I don't think my mum ever thought of perfume as something you routinely wore, even scented talc was a treat to be eked out

LenizarLyublyu · 20/06/2019 07:39

I'd like to do that too. But my favourite scene is Angel by Mugler and I think that's a bit cloying for every day. I haven't been able to find something similar in sweetness but lighter for everyday. Angel is "my smell" though.

Deathraystare · 20/06/2019 07:40

Lentheric's Tweed (cat's piss), Chanel no 5 (From Dad, only for occasions), YSL Paris - pissed me off - these were left in a drawer 'for occasions and she used shitty smell alike ones all the time.

Grandma used L'aimant and Je Reviens. I use a L'aimant body spray now!

ScreamingValenta · 20/06/2019 07:42

Aqua Manda when I was very young. It came in an orange bottle!

CaMePlaitPas · 20/06/2019 07:44

Anais anais, she still has a bottle of it! As soon as I smell it, no matter where I am in the world, it reminds me of her. This has got me thinking about buying a perfume for my own children now!

ilovepinkgin33 · 20/06/2019 07:46

Aromatics exlir
Now it's narcissa rodriguez

My gran wore anais anais
My nan had-the biggest bottle of panache you've ever bloody seen...awful stuff

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 07:48

Gwenhwyfar · 20/06/2019 07:49

Really strong stuff that made me feel sick. Put me off strong perfume for life.
