What scent did your mum wear?

Mine wore l'Air du Temps when I was little. The scent of it takes me straight back to childhood.

I must ask the DC if there's any particular perfume that I wore that they associate with me.

My mum wore anais anais...giorgio beverly hills and another one called wings in a blue box....shes been gone 19 years and i miss her still.

MsJuniper · 20/06/2019 22:56

Another Rive Gauche here, I really want to smell it now! I am not sure what she wears now, maybe not perfume but just has a very distinct, clean smell about her if that makes sense.

hazandduck · 20/06/2019 22:59

Ah OP my French great aunt always wears l'Air du Temps it takes me back to trips to France as a child and big cuddles from her.

My Mum wore Coco, J’adore and Hypnotic Poison. She always had a dressing table full of different bottles though. Her main smell to me is of Olay face cream. The smell of it now makes me almost drowsy with comfort! I love the idea that my DD will one day feel like this about my scent (I hope!)

Calvin Klein Eternity - not at all now though, she’s turned into a Tom Ford fan and is currently wearing Black Orchid.

Pomegranatemolasses · 20/06/2019 23:12

YSL Paris.

MitziK · 20/06/2019 23:17

Soft n Gentle pink (barf)
So..... (puke)
Charlie Red....(bork)

One ex's mum lived in a thick Miasma of Body Shop White Musk (errrrrrgggggghhhhhhh).

Babdoc · 20/06/2019 23:18

Corneliawildthing, you’re the third one on this thread with an abusive mother who wore Youth Dew!
Maybe it was a marker for horrible narcissists - it was certainly a cloying stinky perfume. I can’t stand it to this day, despite my vile mother being dead for over 20 years.

HappyLoneParentDay · 20/06/2019 23:22

Madame Rochas

Can I answer for my DD?! I adore Belles De Ricci however was discontinued loooong ago

eBae · 20/06/2019 23:24

Anais Anais or Joop Smile

elliollie · 20/06/2019 23:29

Poison...it was apt...

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 20/06/2019 23:42

Another rive gauche scent here and also original chapstick lip balm really reminds me of my mum. I buy some every winter and don't really use it but i would feel bereft if they changed the smell or stopped making it!
My mum wore perfume every day whereas i wear it more for special occassions or going out.

TheVelvetOnion · 20/06/2019 23:43

First by Van Cleef & Arpels. I still have her last bottle which I like to sniff every now and again.

3catsandcounting · 20/06/2019 23:44

@Justincase87 Could it have been this -
Elizabeth Arden Red Door?

What scent did your mum wear?
HoppityChicken · 20/06/2019 23:56

Miss Dior original

diavlo · 21/06/2019 00:01

L'air du temps, Chloe Narcisse and Vanderbilt. My MIL wears Youth Dew, which is boakworthy!!

goldpendant · 21/06/2019 00:21

Poison and CK Eternity. Might see if I can track down some mini bottles!

TheSmallAssassin · 21/06/2019 00:25

@clairethewitch70 purple in a clear bottle sounds like Poison (Dior, I think). This thread is really reminding me of my Saturday job on the perfume counter.

My mum wore l'Interdit by Givenchy, after Audrey Hepburn, until it was discontinued, I forget what she wore after that, but she always put perfume on and we still have things that smell of her, even though she's been gone nearly 10 years.

Onynx · 21/06/2019 00:34

Musk by Alyssa Ashley, she still wears Youth Dew -(I love her to bits & she's not a narcissist) & also Yardley Lilly of the Valley

augustusglupe · 21/06/2019 00:53

Youth dew in the 70s and Rive Gauche/Opium in the 80s

grincheux · 21/06/2019 01:00

Ysatis - still gives me a headache! We share Avon recommendations now, life is much better.

shiveringtimber · 21/06/2019 01:14

We're trying to figure out whether it's my night cream or something else. In the past 20 years, it's been Chanel no 5, then Chanel Chance and finally Annick Goutal's Chèvrefeuille. But I don't wear perfume that much anymore because so many people seem to be allergic to fragrance.
