Frown your new thread was very lovely, I liked it a lot. However, we lose thisters if I don't start the threads. We tried it a while back and Thighland nearly died, I had to put a clarion call out on AIBU.

So I done a new one.

Medics and PhDs are called Dr, which is a title gained through a thesis and examination. It is a regulated degree and is recognised around the world.

Whereas, in the UK Prof. is aprestigious post PhD honorary title , a bit like Sir, It
is applied for and awarded solely by the institute in which the Dr works or goes with a job in a new institute.

In America, anyone who teaches is a Prof, and frankly, it looses some of its shine.
