It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

36! 36 degrees here on Thursday
I'm going to move to Scotland

Becca19962014 · 22/07/2019 12:48

Ours keeps climbing Sad

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 13:49

I went to Tesco early to get easy food for the next few days.

I have boiled new potatoes for potato salad this evening and we'll have that with ( ready cooked) salmon and green salad.

My house is sparkling (roped teen ds into helping) as I won't be doing it when it's super hot! Just having a sit down and will mop the floors and then I'm done apart from hanging the washing out which I'll do this evening so I don't have my knickers flapping about all dayGrin

Hellishot · 22/07/2019 14:15

@Teddy1979 I hate it when the forecasters announce hellishly high temperatures with a beaming smile. It's NOT "lovely" weather.

@RobinHobb. Please God, tell me you're not in London? 36!!!! I've been avoiding the weather forecasts because it was stressing me out too much.

Portable air con should arrive by tomorrow but can't fully seal the type of windows we have in this flat. Just hope it helps a bit.

Shall we all hire a minibus (air-conditioned) and get to Scotland asap?

ArseholesOnToast · 22/07/2019 14:49

It’s going to be 29 with a ‘real feel’ of 34 tomorrow. It’s going to be hellish.

I’m rearranging an appointment this Thursday for next week when it’s cooler, I can’t cope doing anything much in this weather.

The next person who tells me it’s glorious is going to get karate chopped in the solar plexus.

I feel like a malamute in Mexico.

I’m def up for a trip up to Scotland. I’ll bring choc ices 😊

Becca19962014 · 22/07/2019 14:51

According to most forecasts not meant to be above 21c here all week.

Accuweather has 27c plus. Even they've got the forecast wrong in recent weeks by several degrees.

Honestly I expect it to be roasting anywhere.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 22/07/2019 14:51

Hello fellow hot weather haters - can I also pop in.

I’ve just checked the weather forecast and am now officially freaking out! I don’t know why but I get massive anxiety around hot weather. I was just about keeping it in check and then taken a look and it’s forecasting even hotter at 36! With 33 previous day. Arrghh.

I’m doubly freaking because for some unknown reason I get especially anxious about my kids in the heatConfused. They are with my ex/their dad this week from Weds and so now I’m panicking - irrationally - he won’t look after them properly in the heat. Actually in reality it’s a good thing as he is much more balanced and relaxed about heat! If it was me I’d take them away for at least a night though. My eldest has some SN and can’t handle the heat and noise.

Someone help me calm down Grin and stop me sending the ex ridiculous text messages about fans and getting away and such like.

Bunnylady53 · 22/07/2019 14:53

Lucky to live near the sea but at the mo it’s not a nice heat - so humid! Very grateful for fans in our rooms at night as there is zero breeze

Becca19962014 · 22/07/2019 14:53

I'll happily throttle the next bugger who tells me how fab the kiddies get a proper summer this year.

Every single fucking day has been hotter this year than last where I am and that's according to fairies and we all know how reliable they are!

Becca19962014 · 22/07/2019 14:54

big I can't help with the calming down as I'm terrified myself.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/07/2019 14:55

Well I'm in London. They're forecasting temperatures, of 37 degrees by Thursday! Being asked to work outside in the bloody heat. No. just noSad

The cheery weather forecasters get on my heat rashed tits!

How much is the mini bus trip per head?

BigmouseLittlehouse · 22/07/2019 14:55

@RobinHobb and @Hellishot can I ask which portable air con you went for? I’m definitely going to order one ( although prob need to wait until this latest mini heatwave is finished!).

Emmabryant123 · 22/07/2019 15:03

I am terrified about the next few days
Am clinging onto the 20c forecast for Friday . Still to hot but bearable

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 15:16

Portable air con should arrive by tomorrow but can't fully seal the type of windows we have in this flat. Just hope it helps a bit

If you draw the curtains around the house it'll help.

We have one but I feel really sick going from a cool room to a hot one so I try and brave it out with fans and keeping curtains closed etc. I used it a lot when we lived in a flat though, bloody essential!

RosaWaiting · 22/07/2019 15:22

I can’t seal the windows in flat either but it’s still better with a portable air con than not. I bought it in 2017 though, because the lack of heating bill covered the cost.

I bought one cheap though and the noise is awful. But the noise of people outside gets drowned out and last summer I think it helped my health.

RobinHobb · 22/07/2019 18:32

To pp who asked
I bought an igenix for the girls room which worked well to cool but it leaked so was a hassle to return to amazon but I did and replaced with an ecoair crystal which is working well. easy to install. We got the window sealing kit which works fine, and on the sash windows the sash window kit is good.
These are in the "low-mid" range though so although I've found them very effective at cooling they are a bit noisy. I'm sure the top of the range ones might be less noisy but I don't care so much about the noise.
I honestly would be in despair without them so even though the credit card is smarting it's worth it for me.

dementedma · 22/07/2019 18:38

Erm, don’t shout but if you could all just send your unwanted heat and sun to Scotland, that would be great. Thanks ever so much...

RosaWaiting · 22/07/2019 18:42

Dementedma- let's life swap for a week?

LoafofSellotape · 22/07/2019 18:59

I'm about to venture out,I have my bottle of water that's been in the freezer!

fortheloveofPete · 22/07/2019 19:09

Come the fuck on autumn.

The next few days had better be the last of the vile weather.

On the upside, the nights are drawing in again.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 22/07/2019 20:03

Thanks @RobinHobb - are the sash window kits just the sliding ones on Amazon?

Teddy1970 · 22/07/2019 20:12

Hellishot If I hear another weather presenter say "glorious sunshine" I swear I'll kick the TV in..

RosaWaiting · 22/07/2019 20:16

London still has 28 for Friday, then Monday 27.

Oh well, at least it’s not last year!!

RobinHobb · 22/07/2019 20:16

@BigmouseLittlehouse
Yes just the ones on amazon. They work quite well, I was using pillows and stuff before and wrapping around the exhaust hose but the kit is just so much easier. Some of the Acs come with them already though

BigmouseLittlehouse · 22/07/2019 20:36

Thanks!

Am very tempted to get one for the kids room at least
