It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

I'm also using this rainy bit to clean the house top to bottom.
I have a operation on Wednesday so can enjoy a few days sitting in the sun.Not in London it the SE so not scorching.

LoafofSellotape · 21/07/2019 12:04

Feels like it's going to rain! Was meant to be 23 today

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 13:06

Horribly muggy here today. Managed to get a bit of food. It'll have to do for now. Hoping it won't be as bad as predicted so can get some more on Tuesday..

Emmabryant123 · 21/07/2019 15:11

Becca can you do a online shop?

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 15:48

No too rural for online shopping.

Emmabryant123 · 21/07/2019 15:54

Anyone who could bring to you?
It must be awful for you :(
I am dreading next week
It's 20c apparently today but v muggy and I'm to hot

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 16:01

Not anymore. I'm on my own.

WeCameToDance · 21/07/2019 16:30

Both me and dh can't stand the summer. It makes us both so irratible that it's lucky we are together really as I dount anybody else would put up with our whinging about it.
I've had enough. It feels never ending. There is still over a month of it left and I just want to go live in the fridge. I have a fear of most flying insects (particularly wasps) so having the windows open makes me really anxious but the air is stifling if there closed so I have no choice. I'm a really moley person so have to slather on factor 50 which then makes me want to immediately shower it off. The heat and sun is also giving me a mild but constant headache which is making me feel sluggish and just generally unwell. I do not thrive in these conditions!

Megsheeran · 21/07/2019 19:26

I have been dreaming of Autumn since May, I feel guilty for wishing part of each year away but I just can't cope with the heat and humidity any more. I took the dogs for a walk this morning came back and had to put all my clothes in the laundry basket as they were wet with sweat, had lots to do in the house and garden today, another clothes change and shower, repeat this eve after 2nd dog walk. My hair is both dry and frizzy and wet and sweaty FFS. I want to be cold and wear a coat and woolly hat and wrap my hands around and steaming mug of chocolate. Please make next weeks forecast be wrong.

Becca19962014 · 21/07/2019 20:34

meg me too. Me too!

RosaWaiting · 21/07/2019 20:56

WeCameToDance Ultravox?

there is a lovely breeze, what a pity we can't find a way to store it for future use!

RobinHobb · 21/07/2019 21:26

I have ordered a portable AC from amazon; I can't take the heat. 34 forecast on Thursday.
The cf from DPD were supposed to bring it on Friday; I waited for it and they never turned up. I got an email from amazon that "no one had been in" and they left a card - liars. There was no card and they didn't bother to get out of the van basically
I have called DPD and promised to bring down the fury of hell on them if they don't turn up tomorrow. Told them to leave it on the doorstep if they think no one is at home again....
I don't think I have ever been so worked up about a delivery before!

But at least it's better than last year which was utter hell.

RosaWaiting · 21/07/2019 21:37

Robin do you mean portable as in castor wheels etc, or smaller than that?

last year I used a lot of mint shower gel but never restocked because I was trying to cut plastics so using soap bars. I tried a minty soap bar I got online but it's not as good.

RobinHobb · 21/07/2019 21:42

@RosaWaiting
Portable as with castor wheels; weighs around 30kg? I got one for the kids rooms last year (both under 3) and it was a life saver because I knew at least they were cool and could settle for naps and nights properly. Decided to get one for me as well when I saw the forecast for next week. They are expensive and noisy and heavy but... does make it bearable!

RosaWaiting · 21/07/2019 21:44

oh wow, that's heavy! I think the delivery people are quite strict on second attempts so fingers crossed for you.

NeedIceInMyBrain · 21/07/2019 22:03

Thank you Becca! Don’t worry, I definitely fit the criteria to be here! Grin I sound like a constant miserable cow to everyone I know moaning about the heat.

It’s also frightening me reading about this coming week. I can’t cope with being out in it and I’m going to HAVE to be on Tues, weds and thurs this week 🙄 Don’t know how I’ll cope, it’s making me panic.

And today I had to listen to people saying how exciting it is and how they hope it stays ‘lovely’ for the next few weeks. They just assume that everyone’s definition of lovely is being slow roasted and pouring with sweat. If it’s cool or raining and I say “lovely weather” to people I get met with a confused and somewhat disgusted gaze.

In this country the terminology is all geared up to think of hot and sunny = wonderful and cold and rainy = horrible.
And don’t get me started on the lack of air conditioning pretty much everywhere. There seems to be this obsession with keeping warm, even when it’s literally the fires of hell out there!!!

Sorry to rant. Sending buckets of ice to everyone!

lololove · 21/07/2019 22:22

At the physio this coming week - that will be interesting - especially as it's a double session for 2 issues and needs lots of hands on time. Dreading it!

Hope the forecasts are wrong and a big thunderstorm cools everything right down for us all!

ItsAlrightAlright · 21/07/2019 22:25

It’s going to be ‘feels like’ 35 on Tuesday and 38 on Thursday. There’s no way I can work in that!

ItsAlrightAlright · 21/07/2019 22:28

Can you get a portable aircon with a MASSIVELY long hose??

Flupibass · 21/07/2019 22:42

I hate it too, but my dh loves it. It drives me crazy when he says how lovely it is, he sits in the boiling sun, likes to sweat, hotter the better. Luckily our house keeps cool so I’ll shut all the windows , draw the curtains and stay inside as much as possible.

RosaWaiting · 21/07/2019 22:50

ItsAlrightItsAlright it’s like song lyric bingo tonight, is that
Bon Jovi by any chance?

You can buy hose extensions for them if that’s any use.

Teddy1970 · 21/07/2019 22:54

I'm dreading next week, it's going to be in the 30s until Thursday down here, I'll just go and comfort myself by watching snowy videos on Youtube.

LoafofSellotape · 21/07/2019 22:54

Urghhhh just realised I have the physio too this week. 9am Tuesday, only half an hour session but even so!

NeedIceInMyBrain · 21/07/2019 22:55

I swear these ‘feels like’ predictions are getting more ridiculous by the day! I think it was yesterday for Wednesday it said temp 29, feels like 35! So that’s 6 degrees difference. I’m sure last year it was only 3/4 degrees higher.

Teddy1970 · 21/07/2019 22:58

I can't stand the weather presenters assuming we love the heat and hate the rain, cold and snow, they don't speak for me thanks very much.
