It's time... Yes we fucking hate summer.

Although it hasn't got as hot as it was last year (yet) I feel like I've already had enough. I'm got hayfever, I can't go outside without insects getting in my face and I'm already feeling hot and sticky. I also want to go to bed and someone round here is having an outdoors party. Yes I'm a Scrooge, no I don't care. Roll on autumn and crisp sunny days and frost and apples and brightly coloured leaves (ahh, I feel cooler already.)

So, so sick of the heat already. S East England for anyone who wants to know 'where on Earth I live' as if we are all on here in anguish just for the sheer fucking lols!

Yesterday, my app was forecasting 21. Like fuck. Yesterday afternoon from about 2pm and it was 28 degrees.
Why are these forecasts so spectacularly wrong? It's only the daily one so there should be a huge degree of accuracy.

Looking ahead, everywhere says 28/29 degrees for about ten days, so that means 30 plus.
And we're not even in August yet.

The heat and humidity triggers depression for me, everything is so much effort. Yesterday I was returning items to an air conditioned store but the short walk from the car/oven meant I had boiling tomato face before I even got in to the door. Clothes sticking to me, headaches, hay fever, I hate this with every fibre of my being.

Thank you for creating this space where it is safe to speak out loud. It helps enormously.

Part of the reason they're so far out is where your weather station is stationed. My "local" one is about ten or so miles away between two massive hills.

Whereas I'm not between hills and near the coast which despite thinking it would be cooler it's not.

Fairies on the other hand have decided it "must be cooler really" so they're out by at least 6 degrees.

Currently they're claiming its 16c and raining. It is raining, having stood out in it hoping to cool off I was expecting too much clearly as its not really cooling. 16c is taking the piss. Still feeling hot and heavy out there.

Having said that it has cooled a bit inside down to 22c now.

Becca19962014 · 17/07/2019 14:48

And it feels slightly cooler outside.. Which I'm grateful for!!

bakedbeanzontoast · 17/07/2019 14:49

I'm here with my annual moan. Not so much the heat. The NOISE. Why are folk so noisy when the sun comes out?! ARGH!

LoafofSellotape · 17/07/2019 15:11

My car said 27 in the shade earlier!

Emmabryant123 · 17/07/2019 15:13

Fed up of the seagull's to
Making noise till 11pm then again at 3am 😠😠

Hello my people. I live in hell. I have a South facing new build home and I work from home. Yes the windows open all the way with a key and I can shut the blinds all day but it doesn't make much difference. Plus I then have the cars, planes, lawn mowers etc. I live above the bin store so the flies know exactly where to come.

I had guests round for tea and we all sat sweating profusely. I have one of those industrial floor fans, and two desk fans but they just blow the hot air around.

I have just bought a portable air con which I am waiting for. I think I will get one of those neck things too.

I also have dishyroditic eczema on my hands which is aggravated by heat.

I've just seen a couple of moths in the cupboard too so I am going to have to excavate that.

Other than that I love the summer Grin

RosaWaiting · 17/07/2019 21:41

I live in hell too, the flat only faces South as they’re built either side of a corridor.

Next week is being ramped up to look worse and worse. I can spend a couple of nights at mum’s but that makes the Tube journey longer. Argh.

Emmabryant123 · 18/07/2019 07:52

Next weeks look horrible
Is it meant to cool again after that does anyone know ?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/07/2019 08:13

Rejoice people!!. Apparently it's going to rain. Almost everywhere. For 3 days!!Grin Big, cooling thunderstorms. The temperature will drop, and you can grab your rain coat and get out your wellies.

Just don't read the last bit at the end

ExpletiveDelighted · 18/07/2019 08:24

We had rain overnight (SE England) and it feels fresher this morning. Not happy with the forecast for next week though.

yulet · 18/07/2019 08:45

Thank you @spiderlight! I'm going to try those.

Came back here after seeing the forecast for next week - with some online reports suggesting that's it for the next few months. Hoping they're being alarmist!

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2019 08:53

Really cooled down yesterday from about 6 and we've had rain all night and still cool and damp now! I always follow the BBC weather as seems pretty accurate for where we are but it's really been off this year as rain wasn't forecast . I'm not complaining though!! Grin

RosaWaiting · 18/07/2019 10:45

Next 3 days look okayish

so there's still time for the forecasters to be wrong about what they say for midweek....! I hope!!

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2019 11:37

Dull and muggy here but not unbearable for me, rain on and off. Was forecast 25 with sun so I'm happy!

Becca19962014 · 18/07/2019 12:39

It's ok here today so far but saw GP this morning and they're really worried as next week is meant to be horrendous again supposedly hitting 30c. I've no chance if it does that.

My blood is all pooling in my legs making them fat and bloated and purple and hurting. Theres no they should be that bad if it is "just" 22c. Today it's meant to be around 16c... It's definitely warmer but not hugely.

Flat finally under 22c! Just portable air con going at moment.

Monday I got a recording of 28c yet all the apps show max of 22c! Looking on accuweather for next 90 days looks sooooo lovely but I know it's a load of shit. The end of June which was over 30c showed as a maximum of 27c!

I've a lot of essential medical assessments and appointments coming up, they know I can't if it gets hot and I'm beginning to think it's been done delibrately knowing I won't be able to go.

Becca19962014 · 18/07/2019 12:46

Latest fairy update... 16c, with feelslike 13c Hmm

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I gotta get me some of them drugs they're doing.

It's not as hot as it has been but no way is it 16c!!!!!!!!

Becca19962014 · 18/07/2019 12:47

Again muggy but we do have breeze.

RosaWaiting · 18/07/2019 15:11

Has anyone else got really bad hay fever or is it that I have a cold?

Hellishot · 18/07/2019 15:14

Hello fellow sensible people! I dread summer. I know that low level headache only too well. Summer has been especially shit ever since I lost leave of my senses and moved into a loft conversion (in London). Viewed it in winter and loved how warm and cosy it seemed... Last year was hellish.

Today is good, not too hot and there's been a lovely breeze, but I'm praying the weather forecast is wrong about next week.

I hope the cooling scarves work. I've just ordered one, and an ice towel. I want to get portable air con but dp is moaning about the electricity. He's fine because he likes the heat.

Becca19962014 · 18/07/2019 15:32

I've really bad hayfever.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/07/2019 15:48

Somehow it doesn't seem as refreshing as I hoped it would be Aaaargh!

Feels close and heavy and a bit dead. But still cooler, just not as cool as I'd hoped.

Summer has been especially shit ever since I lost leave of my senses and moved into a loft conversion (in London).

I can imagine the pain. I wish I lived in a draughty old Victorian or Georgian.

Hellishot · 18/07/2019 16:29

Oh yes, CatherineOAPB! A lovely super draughty old house, that's exactly what I need. I am very jealous of people in stone cottages.

lemonbalmtea · 18/07/2019 17:35

It rained today. It was bliss. Due to be 29 degrees on the day I have a four hour train journey. I need a linen dress urgently. Literally everything I have is synthetic shite.

NeedIceInMyBrain · 18/07/2019 18:52

Hello please can I join? This is really getting to me and upsetting me Sad I literally can’t function in the heat. I’m the only person I know who has an issue with it, everyone else positively adores it and can’t get enough, or at least doesn’t mind it.
They make me feel like a freak.

I have severe chronic migraines, the hot weather triggers them, and my medication for them makes me hotter as well and causes facial flushing and sweating.

My flat gets into the 40s by the evening on a sunny day, I do have a portable air conditioner and two fans but even then it’s still too much.

But outside it really fucks up my head, I feel like I’m choking and very depressed.
Becca I really feel for you and others with health issues aggravated by this.

Why on earth does the heavy rain and thunder never seem to come?!! It keeps being promised but never materialises it does for just an hour or so. And why do they say it’s one temperature when clearly it’s 5-10 degrees above that?
I just want to bathe in ice.
